DeLaSalle is a member of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), which is the governing board for sports and activities across Minnesota. Each student who wishes to participate in an activity at DeLaSalle must agree to the MSHSL Bylaws outlined in the MSHSL Eligibility Brochure, as well as the DeLaSalle Student-Parent Handbook.
You may learn more about the MSHSL on its website, which is under construction. A new website will be rolled out over the next 1-2 years.
Student Activities Registration
In order to participate in an activity at DeLaSalle, students need to complete three steps:
The MSHSL requires any student participating in a student activity to complete an eligibility statement before they participate. At DeLaSalle, the eligibility statement is completed electronically when families submit required back-to-school forms in the summer. The 2020-2021 MSHSL Eligibility Brochure can be found here. To find out more about the MSHSL Bylaws you can view the full handbook here.
The MSHSL requires every student athlete must have a current physical on file before they can practice or play in a sport. Current is defined as within three years. The completed sport physical form can be turned in directly to the Student Activities office or may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
COVID-19 Update: Any student whose sports physical was expected to expire anywhere between March 12th, 2020 through the end of the 2020-2021 school year will have an extension. Those physicals will now be valid through the 2020-2021 school year. All incoming students and students participating in athletics for the first time will need to submit a valid sports physical to the DeLaSalle High School Activities Office. If you have not had a sports physical filled out within the last three years, we recommend that you set this appointment with your clinic ASAP.
Fall sports registration is now open! Click here to find out more and complete your registration form. Remember, you need to have all registration steps completed BEFORE you may start participating. Fall sports start on August 17th.
Non-athletic activities and clubs registration will open in early August.
Winter sports registration will open in early October.
Spring sports registration will open in early February.
Transfer Student Eligibility
Minnesota State High School League rules govern how students who transfer to DeLaSalle from another school may participate in athletics. A transfer student is defined as an individual who attends a school that is different from the school in which they started their first day of 9th grade. All transfer students must first complete the admissions process at DeLaSalle before starting the MSHSL Student Transfer Eligbility process. Once admission has been granted and a student is enrolled and attending classes at DeLaSalle, he or she must work with the Director of Student Activities to determine their eligibility.
The first step is to complete the MSHSL Student Transfer Checklist. Once this form is complete you must submit a valid sports physical to the DeLaSalle Activities Office. At that time the Director of Student Activities will be in contact with you regarding next steps.
