Malcolm Newman

Malcolm Newman has been an integral part of DeLaSalle’s math and science faculty since 1996. He has taught Pre-Calculus and Astronomy and currently has sections of Physics, Honors Physics and Geometry. Mr. Newman coaches the school’s Math League team, co-moderates the National Honor Society and helps lead EPAC, the Environmental Pro-Action Committee. Mr. Newman earned a degree in physics from the University of Illinois and a degree in mathematics from Illinois State University. In between, he was commissioned and completed the U.S. Navy’s nuclear power training pipeline. Mr. Newman has completed the Lasallian Leadership Institute, a three-year course taught by the Christian Brothers to promote St. John Baptist de La Salle’s heritage and mission. In his free time, he is an avid reader, especially of science fiction and fantasy, and still plays the occasional computer game or tinkers with his computer and new technologies. He and his wife, Beth, also enjoy traveling.
