A Social Studies teacher at DeLaSalle since 1999, Martin Marrin ‘77 tries to make the study of history locally relevant and practical. In his words, “I try to find the Minnesota connection to the broader narrative of U.S. history. While my hand-drawn classroom maps may border on the absurd, I want students to recognize that U.S. history happens in our midst, not on stale pages of text.” Mr. Marrin helps students become historians through the annual History Day program and moderates the school’s Quiz Bowl program. Mr. Marrin earned undergraduate degrees from St. John’s University and the University of Minnesota and a graduate degree from the University of St. Thomas. He previously taught at Catholic schools in Minneapolis, Seattle, and rural Minnesota. Mr. Marrin enjoys biking, reading, and playing tennis.
