Congrats to the Class of 2022 – Important Reminders

Congratulations to the Class of 2022, who completed their final day of high school today! In addition to final exams and the last of the AP tests, seniors had time to relax, talk, and play games during a class-wide brunch this morning. We are so proud of this group for their hard work and resilience throughout their four years on the Island, and we look forward to the key events of the upcoming week.
Graduation Practice: Wednesday, May 18, 8:59am at the Basilica of Saint Mary. Attendance is required for all those intending to participate in the graduation ceremony. It is important that everyone be on time. Graduation practice should take an hour and a half to two hours. Caps, gowns, and graduation tickets will be distributed at this time.
Baccalaureate Mass, Recognition Ceremony for All Graduates and Senior Awards, and Alumni Association Reception: Wednesday, May 18, 6:30pm, DeLaSalle Main Gym. We invite all graduates and guests to join us for this annual event of prayer and celebration — a night to thank God for blessings received and petition the Lord for future guidance and grace for the Class of 2022. Following the Mass, there will be a ceremony to recognize all graduates with awards in academics, activities, and come scholarship programs. The Alumni Association hosts a reception with refreshments and a special gift for each senior. We hope to see all seniors and families at the event, but this event will also be live-streamed on the DeLaSalle website for out-of-town family and friends.
Commencement (Graduation) Ceremony: Thursday, May 19, 6:45pm. Seniors are to be present on the East Side of the Basilica of Saint Mary no later than 6:10 pm. Graduation will begin promptly at 6:45 p.m. Due to limited space at the Basilica each graduate will be issued four (4) tickets to invite friends and relatives. Appropriate attire must be worn in order to participate in the Commencement exercises (dress pants, dress shoes, and ties for the men; dress pants or dresses, and dress shoes for the women). This event will also be live-streamed on the DeLaSalle website.
Diploma Issuing: Graduates may pick up their diplomas Friday, May 20, between 11:00am and 2:00pm. Clean school uniform items in good condition may be donated to the school’s loaner program by dropping them off in the Deans’ Office.
Both at DeLaSalle and at the Basilica, facemasks are optional but supported.

Class of 2026 Welcome Party and Parent Meet & Greet – May 14

As we say goodbye to our graduates, DeLaSalle is excited for tomorrow’s Welcome Party for our newest Islanders, the Class of 2026 and their parents.
Saturday, May 14, 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
Students: you’ll have a DJ dance, participate in games and activities to meet your classmates, and just enjoy the atmosphere of your new high school. Admission is free – and we’ll have pizza and pop for everybody. By the end of the night, you’ll have a lot of new friends!
Parents: we don’t want you to miss out on the fun either. While your child is meeting new classmates, you can meet other parents during the “Meet and Greet with Treats” for parents of the Class of 2026. Current parents and some graduating seniors will serve as hosts and share good conversation about DeLaSalle from a parent’s or student’s view. This event is hosted by the DeLaSalle Parent Association and has been extremely valuable for new parents to DeLaSalle.
If you haven’t yet completed the RSVP form, please do so today.   Questions? Contact Mike O’Keefe via email or at 612-676-7679.

Final Exams Conclude 2021-22 School Year

Students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades will conclude the school year with final assessments Thursday and Friday, May 26 and 27. Friday will be periods 5, 7, and 8 only with an early dismissal at 1:30pm. During these days, students will also clean out their lockers and either return or complete the purchase of their school-issued iPads.

School iPads Available for Sale

This summer, DeLaSalle will refresh the devices for its IslePad one-to-one program with the purchase of new iPads for the 2022-23 school year. As part of this transition, DeLaSalle is offering students the opportunity to purchase their current 6th Generation iPads for $125.00 now through May 25. This purchase price includes the case and charger that are currently assigned to the student. Students should bring this iPad Payment Form and cash and/or check payments to the Business Office. Credit card payments can be made through Diamond Mind. Devices that are not purchased will need to be returned on the last day of classes. Charges will be incurred for any damage to the device or charger.

Six Top Colleges Offer Unified Planning and Info Sessions

Amherst, Bowdoin, Carleton, Pomona, Swarthmore, and Williams Colleges are putting their rivalries aside and hosting a series of virtual events and webinars on college planning. All can be viewed free of charge. https://www.sixcolleges.org/   Scroll down to access previously recorded sessions. The special session for “First-Generation and Low-Income Students” is very good. Interested students and families need just one form to get information from all six colleges.

St. Catherine University – Summer Opportunities

St. Catherine University is offering two excellent, free programs for young women this summer.
(1) Leaders In Business Summer Workshop This free, four-day summer workshop empowers high school students to see themselves as leaders and learn from women in professional business careers while experiencing college life at the university’s St. Paul campus.
(2) Healthcare, Math, and Science Summer Program This week-long exploration of careers in Healthcare, Math, and Science is for 11th grade, BIPOC women. It runs for two consecutive years – the same group of students will return in the summer of 2023 as seniors.
Students are encouraged to participate to learn more about the possibilities for post-secondary education.

The DLS Parent-sponsored Senior Party Needs Donations and Volunteers

The parent-sponsored Class of 2022 Senior Party will immediately follow the graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 19. The party will be at the Maple Grove Community Center from 10:00pm to 4:30am and includes food, entertainment, games, activities, and lots of prizes. Students are bused to and from the DeLaSalle parking lot for the event.

We are still accepting financial donations to cover costs, donations of gift cards, and gift items for prizes, and we are looking for volunteers. Parents of 9th, 10th, and 11th graders are especially needed for decorating and sign in before the party as senior parents will be with their families at the graduation ceremony. (This is a great way to get a bird’s eye view of what’s ahead for your own students.) Senior parent volunteers will also have a great time connecting with each other and celebrating this big milestone!

Please help us congratulate the class of 2022 for all their hard work and send them off with a night full of fun and memory making!
• To make a financial donation please Venmo at: Sarah-Odegard-2 or drop off checks or cash marked “Senior Party” at the school’s Main Office.
• Please bring donations (gift cards, prizes) to Kate Goeddeke (Luke ’22) in the Main Office.
• To volunteer to help the night of the event please use our Sign up genius by clicking here.
• And to register your 2022 graduate for the party please use this link.

Thank you!
