Ethics Bowl Team Wins – on to Regional Competition

Congratulations to the Islander Ethics Bowl team for winning the state meet last week at the University of Minnesota.  Up next: the regional meet on Tuesday, February 22, against Millard North High School of Omaha, NB. This online event will consist of the judges presenting new questions about two of the case studies Islanders have been researching and discussing. After the high school teams do their five-minute presentations and rebuttals, there will be ten minutes of questions from the judges –who are college professors. Points are awarded for clarity of discussion, quality of ethical analysis, consideration of alternative viewpoints, and respectful competition. Go, Islanders!

Thank You for Completing the Strategic Planning, Website Surveys!

Thank you to all parents and students who took time in recent days to complete the two surveys asking for your input. As you’ve learned. DeLaSalle has launched its latest strategic planning initiative to assess current needs and establish five-year goals for the school. A committee of teachers, staff, administrators, and student representatives has been meeting regularly, working with a consultant to draft the new plan in time for approval by the Board of Trustees in May, and implementation beginning with the start of the 2022-23 school year. We are grateful to the many parents and students who have offered input into the planning process by completing surveys in recent days. On a parallel track, we are also in the process of evaluation and redesign of the school’s website for the start of the 2022-23 school year. This project speaks to part of the improvement model in the strategic planning process. We are grateful for the parent and student feedback we have received that will help us move forward with an improved website that will better meet the needs of our users in future years.

Welcome the Class of 2026!

With the start of the 2022-23 school year a mere six months away, DeLaSalle has extended offers of admission to prospective students in the Class of 2026. Please join us in welcoming these newest Islanders to our community. Students and families to whom DeLaSalle is offering admission have received an email greeting, sharing the exciting news. The same students and families will receive a registration packet in the mail that includes the formal admission offer letter and important registration documents. Admitted students are invited to Ninth Grade Registration Day on Saturday, February 26, 9:00am – 12:00pm, and it is likely that we will meet our goal of 175-200 ninth graders on that day. Students in the Class of 2026 and their families will meet teachers and staff, register for classes, express interest in school activities, and request transportation for the 2022-23 school year. The School Store will be open and DeLaSalle staff will be available to answer questions. We will continue to accept applications for potential ninth grade and transfer students throughout the spring and summer –-and register students as space permits.

Yearbook Senior Parents Ads

Families who are looking for a way to publicly recognize or pay tribute to their 12th grader may consider buying a Yearbook Senior Parent Ad. There are two ways to order senior ads: online at this website or by downloading this paper form and turn it in to Ms. Smith in the Main Office. You may design the ads yourself on the Balfour website (preferable), create your own artwork and upload, or have the yearbook staff design one for you. Parent Senior Ads orders are due by March 15.

Course Registration for 2022-23 Now Due

The DeLaSalle Board of Trustees made the decision five years ago to move to a continuous enrollment model. Continuous enrollment streamlines the re-enrollment process and eliminates the need for sending a repetitive re-registration form and a new tuition agreement to families each year. All students received an email with a link to their personalized registration forms. Thank you to those students and families who have completed their registrations by today’s deadline. For those who have yet to complete the form, please do so this weekend, no later than Tuesday, February 22.

A timeline of key dates:
• February 25: The TADS financial aid application for 2022-23 is due by this date.
• March 1-15: The 2022-23 non-refundable registration deposit of $350.00 per student will be added to your TADS tuition accounts. Monthly payers will have this deposit added on your normal tuition payment date. For families who have paid tuition in one or two installments, we will add an additional invoice to their agreement and TADS will process the registration deposit from their account.
• April 1-15: Once TADS has completed their auditing procedures, DeLaSalle will be communicating 2022-23 financial aid and individualized tuition arrangements for each returning family.
• May: Tuition payments begin for 2022-23, in monthly payments or one or two installments.
