Smile! Your Child’s School Picture Will Be Taken Thursday
All students will have their school picture taken and receive their official school identification card on Thursday, November 11. Families who wish to place an order should visit the Lifetouch website and enter DeLaSalle’s Picture Day ID, which is EVTH8XXQK. The Picture Retake Day is tentatively scheduled for December 10.
Senior Pictures Scheduled for November 17
A professional photographer will be on campus on Wednesday, November 17 during the lunch period to take the official senior portrait for students in the Class of 2022. On that day, seniors may wear a top that is school appropriate and adheres to the guidelines in the Student-Parent Handbook. Seniors must wear a uniform pant or skirt. a top they may change into for the photo. Seniors must get their photo taken on November 17 if they wish for it to be included in the school yearbook and on the composite class photo that hangs in the hallway after they graduate. Information about how to order photos will be available two weeks after senior picture day. Please contact James Buffington with questions.
Online Learning Day Scheduled for Friday
Students will participate in an Online Learning Day on Friday, November 12 so faculty and staff can use the time to evaluate and write new curriculum. On November 12, students will participate in classes asynchronously from home. Students should log into Canvas for assignments from their teachers that will be posted by 9:00am. Students can find other helpful tips for the day here.
DeLaSalle Will Recognize Students for Their Academic Accomplishments
We are excited to recognize scores of students for their academic accomplishments through several programs in November. Students will receive an academic pin if they earned a place on the Honor Roll during both semesters of the 2020-21 school year, and an academic letter if they have earned a place on the Honor Roll for four semesters. The recognition will occur by grade level during WIN sessions the week of November 8:

  • The Class of 2024 will be recognized during the first WIN session on Tuesday, November 9.
  • The Class of 2023 will be recognized during the second WIN session on Tuesday, Nov. 9.
  • The Class of 2022 will be recognized during the first WIN session on Thursday, November 11.

Finally, on Tuesday, November 30, we will recognize those students who are being inducted into the DeLaSalle chapter of the National Honor Society. The NHS induction ceremony will be held at 7:00pm in the Florance Center. Students accepted for induction into the chapter will receive an invitation to the event in mid-November.

Join Us Wednesday for DeLaSalle Day of Giving
DeLaSalle will host its sixth annual Day of Giving, a 24-hour opportunity to come together in support of our students, on Wednesday, November 10. Last year alumni, parents, grandparents, students, faculty, staff and friends helped the school raise nearly $160,000 in a single day. This year, we invite YOU to make a gift. Help us meet our challenges:

  • Students will earn a free ice cream cookie dessert on November 11 if they work together to raise $500. If students can double their goal, collecting $1,000, the administration will give them an Out of Uniform Day!
  • DeLaSalle will earn an extra $10,000 from an anonymous donor if at least 100 current and past families make a gift.
  • Who has the most school spirit? The 1950s? The 1990s? The Islanders from the 1960s claim it’s them? We shall see. The decade with the highest participation on Day of Giving will earn bragging rights AND an extra $5,000 for the school in their name.
  • Graduates of the Classes of 2001-2021: this one’s for you! A member of the Board of Trustees has offered to match your donations, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000. If you contribute $20 DeLaSalle gets $40. If you can contribute $100 DeLaSalle gets another $100. It adds up to a BIG win for our school.

Learn more and make your gift here.

DeLaSalle Recognizes Student Athletes on Wednesday
DeLaSalle will celebrate two student athletes as they announce where they will attend college to pursue their academic and athletic interests on National Signing Day on Wednesday, November 10. A brief program will be held before school for both Savannah Tody ‘22 and Savannah White ‘22. Please join us in congratulating these young women on their decision.
Fall Play “3 Musketeers” Opens Next Weekend
Just as DeLaSalle Theatre wraps up production of its fall musical, it is preparing for performances of the fall play “3 Musketeers.” Performances are November 12, 13, 19, and 20, at 7:30pm, on the Friendshuh Stage in the Florance Center. Tickets are $15 for reserved seating; $10 for general admission, $8 for students and seniors; and free for DeLaSalle students with school ID. You may purchase reserved tickets in advance here.

In this original DeLaSalle Theatre production, we meet D’Artagnan. Coming from rural France, he wants to fulfill his ambition of becoming one of the king’s elite guardsmen, the Musketeers. In Paris he meets Athos, Porthos and Aramis, three of the king’s finest Musketeers, who have been let go from service. The new friends work to stop Cardinal Richelieu’s plot to overthrow the monarchy and have power over France.

Prospective Students and Families: Take a Look at DeLaSalle
It has been a busy week on the Island as we have welcomed multiple prospective students and families who want to explore this unique school on the Island.

  • We welcome individual meetings/tours with parents and students, because every “story” is important and every question deserves an answer. We benefit from such meetings as much as you will! You can schedule your tour here.
  • Prospective students can see what it is like to become an Islander for a day! Starting on Monday, November 1, you can take a closer look at what it means to be a De student by following a ninth grader through a day of classes. Eighth grade students are invited to choose a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday to come to DeLaSalle. We will do our best to ensure that each student is able to visit the classes that interest them most! Click here to schedule an Islander for a Day visit.

Update Your Wardrobe While You Help DeLaSalle
Two DeLaSalle moms are hosting a shopping party at Evereve in Saint Paul (867 Grand Avenue) and all are invited. Guests will mingle, drink, snack, and shop with Evereve personal shoppers and stylists on Sunday, November 14, from 2:00-5:00pm while the store is closed to the public. Fifteen percent of all purchases will be donated to DeLaSalle’s Student Scholarship Fund. Tickets to this exciting event are $20 and were sold at last month’s Christian Brothers’ Gala, but the more the merrier! To reserve your spot, email Liz Hewitt. You may pay for your ticket when you arrive on the 14th.
November Parent Association Meeting Rescheduled to Nov. 15
The DeLaSalle Parent Association typically meets on the second Monday of each month. However, this month, our meeting has been rescheduled to Monday, November 15 because the speaker we wish to present is unavailable on November 8. So, mark your calendars and plan to join us on Monday, November 15, from 6:30-8:00pm, in the Schulze Learning Lab (D104) for good conversation, good food, and great company. All parents are invited to attend and are members of the association by way of your child’s enrollment in DeLaSalle.
Registering For, and Learning About Winter Sports at De
Winter sports will soon begin at DeLaSalle – and students are invited to register now to participate. DeLaSalle offers boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ hockey, boys’ swimming, wrestling, winter sideline cheer, and, new this year, nordic skiing. Students should register here as soon as possible so that you can receive important information about practices and the team. You must also have a current physical on file with the Student Activities office.

Students who have registered for a winter sport are encouraged to attend or participate with their family in PAC (parent athlete coach) meetings for each sport. These meetings provide you with helpful information for the upcoming season. You can find when PAC meetings are scheduled for each sport here.

Around DeLaSalle
DeLaSalle students and staff honored the spirit and memory of those who have died at our all school Mass November 2 on the feast of All Souls Day. Islanders had the opportunity to place framed photos of loved ones on an ofrenda table and light a candle in memory of those who have died.
