God’s love surround you, God’s Spirit guide you,
God’s whisper cheer you, God’s peace calm you,
God’s shield protect you, God’s wisdom arm you,
wherever God may lead you.

Amen

In the news…

Students, you will meet with your academic mentor during WIN today. This is a chance to check in on your classes right before conferences. Please bring quiet materials to study with during your mentor meeting.

BLK will meet today at 3:30pm in D104. Join us for a discussion about historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and what they have to offer to students of color. All are welcome to attend.

We will also be selling buckets and cups of candy for $5 for the rest of October. These can be purchased before school, during lunches, after school, and during WIN in Ms. McAdams office (B102 – Guidance Office).

Come to our first meetings and practices: today and Wednesday October 27, after school in B305. Unable to attend? Please contact Mr. Marrin.

The TableTop Games Club will meet today at 3:15 in B307. We will be picking a day of the week for our regular meetings and then playing something quick. See Mr. Newman or Mr. Banas if you are interested but unable to attend. Note- we are a drop-in activity, join anytime, no week-to-week commitment- just come as you are able and have fun.

College advisers continue to have WIN sessions giving seniors dedicated time and space to work on college applications with the help of the college advising team. All seniors are welcome!

Parent-Student-Teacher conferences are tomorrow and Thursday. Wednesday’s conferences are in person from 3:00-8:00pm. Thursday’s conferences are virtual from 11:00am-7:00pm. All conferences will be by appointment and parents must sign up in advance. Parents, you should have received an email with a link to register for conferences with your child’s teachers. If you have more than one child at De, you will receive a separate email for each child. If you have any technical issues, please email support@delasalle.com.

Kick-off your visit to Parent-Teacher conferences by visiting by attending a panel with college admissions representatives. What are colleges looking for in a prospective student? Hear from and ask questions of three college representatives, who will share the college view of the application process on Wednesday from 3:00-4:00pm in D104. Bring your questions!

  • Does my student need to be a B+ or above student to be accepted in your school?
  • How important is my students ACT/SAT Score?
  • How does your school determine who gets scholarship monies?
  • Is an excellent essay the only way to be noticed by the admitting office?
  • If my student has struggled in some areas during their high school career, will they get into college?

There are no classes for students Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. That’s because we have Parent-Teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday is a professional development day. Enjoy the long break!

The first meeting for Math League will be after school on Monday October 25 in B307.  All meets this year will be held here at DLS.  The first meet will be Monday, November 1. See Mr. Newman if you would like to participate but are not able to come to the Oct. 25 meeting. Hope to see you there, and bring a friend who’s a nerd!

We host our first Open House for Prospective Students and Families this coming Monday. In order to clean and set up our school for our visitors, we ask that all students who are not involved in an after school activity leave school immediately after the last bell at 3:00pm on October 25. Thank you for planning accordingly.

Do you have an opinion about the future of the Catholic Church? Have you ever started a sentence with “The Church needs to…”? High school students in particular are being asked to weigh in as part of a synod process that is underway in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Your input is important to helping shape Synod focus areas – important topics in our faith. One of these focus areas is, “Forming youth and young adults in and for a Church that is always young.” Get involved at your local parish. Find more information here.

Students may now register for winter sports at DeLaSalle! We offer boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ hockey, boys’ swimming, wrestling, winter sideline cheer, and, new this year, nordic skiing. If you want to participate in a sport, you should register here as soon as possible so that you can receive important information about practices and the team. You must also have a current physical on file with the Student Activities office.

October is Respect for Life Month, a time in which we’re invited to reflect more deeply on the dignity of every human life. As part of our DeLaSalle celebration of life, we will be partnering with Agape Oasis Child Care and Crisis Intervention Center and Mary’s Place Transitional Housing to help support those in need. Agape Oasis is in need of SCHOOL SUPPLIES (pencils, markers, notebooks, etc.) and Mary’s Place is in need DIAPERS (size 2-5 preferred). Please drop off donations in the portable baby crib located in Albers Atrium. Thank you for your donations!!
