Cece Ntanga, Community Engagement Coordinator from Agape Oasis, will speak about the great work being done by Agape Oasis and ways that you can get involved and volunteer. Agape Oasis is a 24 hour child care and crisis intervention center that provides culturally relevant integrated services that focus on empowering people, restoring families, healing individuals, and strengthening communities. Earn 1 Christian Service Hour for attending this session. Sign up in SST for the Thursday’s talk during the 1st WIN session.

We are excited to welcome back Laurie Lindeen to DeLaSalle for an essay writing workshop after school on Thursday. Please join us at 3:00pm in D104 (north) for a hands-on opportunity to work with a professional writer and essay writing coach as you start, or perfect your college essay.

All 11th and 12th graders with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are eligible to apply for membership into the DeLaSalle chapter of National Honor Society. All eligible students should have received an email with the application information. Application support will be offered at WIN sessions on October 12 and 15. Please contact Ms. Groenke or Brother Dylan with questions.

Are you interested in becoming a lawyer? Or testifying in a state courthouse? Mock Trial is open to all students, encouraging a growth-oriented and welcoming atmosphere. We’ll make supportive connections with experienced attorneys and students from all grade levels. Feel free to stop by for our introductory meeting Thursday or Friday after school (3:15-4:30pm) in B301. If you are interested, please fill out this Google Form. Students who qualify for free and reduced lunch must apply each year for the benefits. The 2020-21 benefits expire on Thursday, so please complete and submit an application here for benefits for this school year, if you have not yet done so (click here for instructions on how to create a LunchTime account).

Students and DeLaSalle each benefit by families completing and submitting an application. Based on the population of students who receive benefits, DeLaSalle can earn additional funding for staff development and training and increased funding for digital learning and technology. Students and families, meanwhile, may qualify for discounted or no-cost bus cards, Xcel Energy account assistance, Comcast Internet Essentials discounts, and discounted fees for academic tests.

October is Respect for Life Month, a time in which we’re invited to reflect more deeply on the dignity of every human life. As part of our DeLaSalle celebration of life, we will be partnering with Agape Oasis Child Care and Crisis Intervention Center and Mary’s Place Transitional Housing to help support those in need. Agape Oasis is in need of SCHOOL SUPPLIES (pencils, markers, notebooks, etc.) and Mary’s Place is in need DIAPERS (size 2-5 preferred). Please drop off donations in the portable baby crib located in Albers Atrium. Thank you for your donations!!

October is College Knowledge Month in Minnesota – and at DeLaSalle we call it October Madness. Every Friday in October, the College Advising staff will be in D104 North after school to host college application work sessions, Seniors, put this on your calendar and join us! You will thank yourself a month from now for utilizing this dedicated time to work on your applications!

Many colleges in Minnesota are waiving application fees during the month of October. Click here to see if your colleges are part of the initiative.
