Loving God, give to all people work that enhances human dignity and bonds us to one another.
Give us pride in our work, a fair return for our labor, and joy in knowing that our work finds its source in you.

Amen.

Islanders, it’s time to show your school spirit during Homecoming Week! This year’s Homecoming theme is “The comeback is stronger than the setback.” There are lots of ways for you to get involved. Check it out here!

Tuesday’s dress up day is Pajama Day. Dress like you just rolled out of bed.

Remember, you must follow all Out of Uniform Guidelines during Homecoming Week.

Dance

The Homecoming Dance will be held on the athletic field on Saturday, September 11, from 7:00-10:00pm. Student Council wants your input on songs for the dance. Make your song requests here.

Congratulations to social studies teacher, Mr. Marrin, who has been named one of ten finalists for the National History Teacher of the Year Award! Mr. Marrin was named the Minnesota History Teacher of the Year in July. Read more here.

DeLaSalle is hosting a vaccination clinic! We are providing the opportunity for those who are not yet vaccinated against COVID-19 to get a vaccine on Friday, September 10, between 3:00-6:00pm in D104. Anyone who is 12 years or older and is eligible to receive a vaccine may get their shot at the school – and those who get a shot can receive an incentive for doing so! Vaccinating nurses will bring the Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson vaccines. Only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for those ages 12 or older.

Pre-register today so we can have enough vaccines, though walk-ins are welcome. Students who are younger than 18 must have a parent or guardian’s consent to receive the Pfizer vaccine. The vaccinating nurse will accept verbal consent over the phone, so make sure your parent is available by phone if you call them or have them present with you at the vaccination.

Are you interested in learning a survival skill that was started 40,000 years ago? Do you want to be able to feed yourself if you ever get lost in the wilderness? If so, we have just the activity for you! DeLaSalle Atlatl Society will be starting its 7th season on Wednesday. The first meeting will be in Mr. Sczepanski’s room, B302, at 3:10pm, on Wednesday. Atlatl Society meets Wednesdays after school from 3:10 to 4:10. Weather permitting, we will use atlatls to throw darts at targets near Brother’s Plaza. Please see Mr. Sczepanski if you have any questions.

Sign up to join the Women of Words (W.O.W.) book discussion group. We will read 3-4 books over the school year with discussions after everyone is done reading. Please fill out this Google form to participate this year. We hope to be able to distribute books by mid-September.

If you are interested in being a part of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS), a mandatory meeting will take place before school on Wednesday, September 8 at 8:00am in room B107.

Students are eligible to join NAHS if they are currently in the 11th or 12th grade. Students need to have a B average (3.0 or higher) in their art classes and complete at least 10 hours of creative projects within DeLaSalle and our surrounding community. Students that join will be required to accept the NAHS course on Canvas. The Canvas page is where you will find all information for NAHS projects and events that are happening throughout the year. There is also a $5 membership fee that can be brought to the first meeting to submit with a signed contract given to you at the meeting.

Please email Ms. Swords with any questions you may have.
