Come, Holy Spirit,
Make me faithful in my every thought,
and grant that I may always listen to Your voice,
watch for Your light,
and follow Your gracious inspirations.

In the news…

We will gather as a school community this morning for the opening school year Mass of the Holy Spirit during the WIN period that begins at 10:00am. School chaplain, Fr. Kevin Kenney ‘78, who is the pastor at St. Olaf Catholic Church in downtown Minneapolis, will celebrate the Mass with us in the Florance Center. Lasallian schools across the world celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit to ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all parts of our life as we begin a new school year.

Yesterday during lunches, the Dean of Students began handing out temporary student IDs. If you did not receive your ID yesterday, please stop by the staff table during your lunch wave in the Florance Center today. Thank you.

Students are invited to audition and sign up for tech crew for the upcoming fall play, 3 Musketeers. Auditions are today from 3:30-5:30pm on the Florance Center stage. No previous experience is necessary. Callbacks will be held Friday as needed. Students who audition should wear comfortable clothes that allow for movement. The fall play will be performed November 12-13 and 19-20. Email Mr. Buffington with questions.

The National Association of College Admission Counselors sponsor national college fairs around the US each year. DeLaSalle usually takes a field trip with our junior students to this event. Last year the National College Fair went virtual and this year the events are also virtual and there are several to choose from. The first event is the Signature College Fair on Sunday from 12:00-5:00pm. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER for this free event and see the others they have calendared. There are over 300 colleges represented at this event.

Students who used this resource last year reported positive feedback about the experience. It is open to all ages and we encourage our students and families to check it out.

Do you still need a sports physical? The Good Clinic, located in northeast Minneapolis just a few blocks from school, is offering free sports physicals through the end of September. They are located just blocks from school on the first level of the NordHaus building (307 1st Ave. NE) and have Islander alumni on staff. To learn more and schedule an appointment, click here.

Student clubs and organizations will begin holding their first meetings of the school year in the next couple of weeks – and there is still time to register to participate! Students may register for a club or organization here. Many clubs will hold their first meeting within the first weeks of school. Learn more about which activities DeLaSalle offers here.

Do you need help paying for tuition? Want to earn some money to add to your lunch account? Or pay for school uniforms? Students and families may register to volunteer through the Islander Foundation. Volunteers typically sell concessions at local venues, including Target Field, Target Center, and US Bank Stadium – and venue operators have guaranteed that the foundation will have a stand to operate as the number of fans in attendance increases. Concessionaires contribute funds to the Islander Foundation for the volunteers’ service and, in turn, volunteers may request grants to offset fees and expenses associated with attending DeLaSalle. Visit the Islander Foundation website to learn more about the foundation and how to register to volunteer. Contact Islander Foundation coordinator, Carlos Villagomez, with questions at 612-676-7607.
