The School Store, located on the first floor of the A building, will be open from 7:00-9:00am this morning if you need to make any last-minute uniform purchases before the start of school.
The Islander Commons is open after school in the Schulze Learning Lab (D104) for students who need to wait for a ride or a place to study. The Islander Commons is the only place on campus where students can eat or drink after school.
Student clubs and organizations will begin holding their first meetings of the school year in the next couple of weeks – and there is still time to register to participate! Students may register for a club or organization here. Many clubs will hold their first meeting within the first weeks of school. Learn more about which activities DeLaSalle offers here.
DeLaSalle Theatre is kicking off the school year with our annual information meeting tomorrow from 3:15 – 4:15pm in D117. If you are curious about fall play, how to audition, joining the tech crew, the spring musical, the other shows this year, we invite you to join us. If you want to learn how to get involved or just want to check out what theatre is all about, this meeting is for you too. All are welcome. Contact Mr. Buffington with any questions:
Students are invited to audition and sign up for tech crew for the upcoming fall play, 3 Musketeers. Auditions are Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30pm on the Florance Center stage. Students may pick either day to audition; no previous experience is necessary. Callbacks will be held August 27 as needed. Students who audition should wear comfortable clothes that allow for movement. The fall play will be performed November 12-13 and 19-20. Email Mr. Buffington with questions.
We will gather as a school community Thursday morning for the opening school year Mass of the Holy Spirit during the WIN period that begins at 10:00am. School chaplain, Fr. Kevin Kenney ‘78, who is the pastor at St. Olaf Catholic Church in downtown Minneapolis, will celebrate the Mass with us in the Florance Center. Lasallian schools across the world celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit to ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all parts of our life as we begin a new school year.
Do you still need a sports physical? The Good Clinic, located in northeast Minneapolis just a few blocks from school, is offering free sports physicals through the end of September. They are located just blocks from school on the first level of the NordHaus building (307 1st Ave. NE) and have Islander alumni on staff. To learn more and schedule an appointment, click here.
Do you need help paying for tuition? Want to earn some money to add to your lunch account? Or pay for school uniforms? Students and families may register to volunteer through the Islander Foundation. Volunteers typically sell concessions at local venues, including Target Field, Target Center, and US Bank Stadium – and venue operators have guaranteed that the foundation will have a stand to operate as the number of fans in attendance increases. Concessionaires contribute funds to the Islander Foundation for the volunteers’ service and, in turn, volunteers may request grants to offset fees and expenses associated with attending DeLaSalle. Visit the Islander Foundation website to learn more about the foundation and how to register to volunteer. Contact Islander Foundation coordinator, Carlos Villagomez, with questions at 612-676-7688.
