Back-to-School Forms Due Immediately

Thanks to the many DeLaSalle families who have completed the required annual Back-to-School forms. If you have not yet done so, the primary contact in each household should check his or her email inbox for an email from DeLaSalle with a link to the forms. Families with multiple students at DeLaSalle must complete a separate set of forms for each child. Thank you for your cooperation in completing these forms as soon as possible.

Families sometimes report that they do not receive communications from DeLaSalle. This can occur especially with users of Yahoo! Mail. As always, please check your “Junk” or “Spam” folder for any messages. We suggest whitelisting emails from delasalle.com so you receive important communications. Follow these steps to whitelist an email address in your email provider.

Fall Sports Start August 16: What You Need to Participate

Practices for all fall sports begin Monday, August 16. In order to participate in a fall sport, students must register for the sport and have a current physical on file with the Student Activities office. “Current” is defined within the last three years. You can find how to submit your physical and register for a sport here.

Twin Cities Orthopedics is one of several local providers offering free sports physicals over the next two weeks. Find more information here.

The Student Activities office has scheduled a PAC (parent/guardian, athlete, coach) meeting for each sport that will provide all of the information you need about the upcoming season. Watch the Activities Director Fall Sports Welcome and visit the Athletic Programs webpage to find PAC meeting information for each sport.

Register Now for Student Clubs and Organizations

Participating in a student club or organization is a great way for students to make friends, have fun, and do something they enjoy. Students are invited to register to participate in a student club or organization here. Many clubs will hold their first meeting within the first weeks of school. Learn more about which activities DeLaSalle offers here

DeLaSalle Theatre Hosts Upcoming Auditions for Fall Musical & Play

DeLaSalle Theatre will hold auditions and tech crew sign-ups for its upcoming fall musical, Chicago: High School Edition, and fall play, 3 Musketeers. Auditions for Chicago are August 16 and 17, from 5:00-7:00pm, in the Florance Center, with callbacks on August 18. Auditions for 3 Musketeers are August 25 and 26, from 3:15-5:00pm, in the Florance Center, with callbacks on August 28. All students are encouraged to audition; no previous experience is necessary. Find more information about auditions here. Email Mr. Buffington with any questions.

Purchase School Uniform Items

Students and families who need to purchase new school uniform items can still shop from available inventory at the DeLaSalle School Store. The store is located in the first floor lobby of the A building and will be open on several dates and times over the next three weeks. Visit the School Store webpage for hours and more information.

What School Supplies Does My Islander Need?

DeLaSalle encourages all students to have these supplies when they begin classes on Monday, August 23.

  • Notebooks
  • Pens and pencils
  • Folders
  • Backpack (for home to school use)
  • DeLaSalle cinch bag (for use during the day)

Students in Algebra 1 and Geometry should have a scientific calculator. Students in Algebra 2, Precalculus, Statistics, and all Calculus classes should have a graphing calculator. Note: Casio and TI-Inspire graphing calculators are not recommended.

Each teacher and course may have specific requests for school supplies. Students will hear about this on the first day of classes.

The School Store will again sell draw-string bookbags this year that are the only approved bag for carrying items during the school day. Backpacks are to be used only to carry items from home to school and back.

Parking Permit Sales Begin August 2

Student parking permit sales will begin the week of August 2. DeLaSalle has 90 student parking permits available to park in the school parking lot; permits cost $320 for the year. Students must reserve a parking permit using a Google form. The form will be emailed to seniors on Monday, August 2, to juniors on Monday, August 9, and, if any permits remain, to sophomores on Monday, August 16. Students who complete the form will receive a separate email with a link to pay for the permit. Students who do not pay for the permit by the deadline forfeit their permit reservation.

If parking permits for the DeLaSalle lot are sold out, then students may purchase a parking permit for the Nicollet Island Pavilion overflow lot south of of the Hennepin Avenue bridge. These passes, which are sold in coordination with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, cost $280 for the year.

Watch Email for School Transportation Information

Thank you to those families who have requested school transportation for their child for the 2021-22 school year. Northstar Bus Lines is creating bus routes on our behalf and this information will be emailed to students and families the first week of August. Thank you for your patience.

Drive for DeLaSalle!

DeLaSalle is hiring transportation drivers for the upcoming school year. This is a perfect part-time job for someone who prefers flexible hours and loves working with students. Starting pay is $21 an hour. DeLaSalle provides some training. Learn more about the job and apply today!

Summer Assignments Due August 23 for AP, Honors Students

Students registered for Advanced Placement and Honors courses have been assigned to complete coursework over the summer. Many of these assignments are due on the first day of school on Monday, August 23. Find what coursework is required on the Back-to-School webpage

DeLaSalle Hosts Annual Alumni & Friends Weekend August 5-7

A Hall of Fame induction ceremony, golf tournament, and class reunions highlight our annual Alumni and Friends Weekend August 5-7. DeLaSalle annually honors individuals who are committed to the Lasallian legacy and heritage with induction into the Hall of Fame. This year, nine individuals or groups will be inducted, including former President Barry Lieske and his wife, Barb, and former music director, Mark Capecchi. On August 6, Islanders of all ages will join us at our annual golf tournament at Phalen Golf Course in St. Paul. We received an overwhelming response and registration for the tournament is closed. And, on August 7, alumni who graduated in years ending with a 0, 1, 5, or 6 will celebrate their class reunions at the school. The evening begins with a Mass at 4:00pm.

Orientation Times Confirmed for August 19 Programs for New Students, New Families

We welcome the arrival of over 220 new students as ninth graders and transfers this fall.   Orientation times are now confirmed for three different programs on Thursday, August 19.

All new ninth grade and transfer students will participate in New Student Orientation during the day.  Students must be dressed in school uniform and should check in between 8:00-8:20am. The 9th grade program runs all day, ending at 3:00pm, and includes lunch provided by DeLaSalle. The transfer students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon and their orientation includes a continental breakfast but no lunch. All new students will meet new classmates, receive a copy of their class schedule, meet teachers and learn more about the campus, connect with key administrators and support staff, and receive other help in their transition to the first day of classes on Monday, August 23.  These daytime orientation programs are required and are for students only.

We highly encourage all parents and families who are new to DeLaSalle (or who have a new student joining in Class of 2025 and transfer group) to join us for a“New Family Orientation” on the evening of the 19th. This program will include a Welcome Cookout starting at 5:30pm, introductions and presentations from various administrators, explanations of school practices and protocols about attendance, lunch, lockers, uniforms, and more. Families may also deposit lunch money into their child’s account and meet with other important school personnel at the school orientation.  The entire program should conclude between 7:00-7:30.  It will be great to welcome our newest members of the DeLaSalle community that evening!

Around DeLaSalle

Islanders in the Class of 2025 have immersed themselves into DeLaSalle in the first two weeks of the Summer Bridging Academy. In addition to classroom instruction in skills that will help them as they begin their freshmen year, students have had fun meeting their classmates and participating in activities around the metro. Students took a scenic river cruise aboard the Mississippi Queen on July 29 and navigated the ropes courses and other field games at the Northern Star Base Camp on July 17.
