ACTION REQUIRED: Please Complete Your Back-to-School Forms

We ask for your help in completing a key step as we prepare for the 2021-22 school year. The primary contact in each household should check his or her email inbox for an email from DeLaSalle with a link to required back-to-school forms for each student. Many of these are annual forms – part of the back-to-school process each year. Thank you in advance for completing these forms as soon as possible.

Online School Uniform Orders Due Today; Store Open Next Week

Students and families who wish to place an online order for new school uniform items should place that order with the DeLaSalle School Store by Friday, July 16 to ensure timely delivery by mid-August. The School Store will be open from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday, July 19 and Wednesday, July 21, for families to purchase items in person, including a large quantity of uniform shirts. The Store is located in the first floor lobby of the A Building. To place an online order, visit the School Store here.

Register Now for Fall Sports and Activities

DeLaSalle students can now register to participate in fall sports as well as a variety of student clubs and organizations. Click here for more information. New ninth graders and students may enter any number in the student ID field inasmuch as the official student ID number has not been issued yet. New students may also enter a parent’s email address in the student email field because student email addresses have not yet been assigned. Each student is required to have a current sports physical (current as defined within the last three years) on file with the Student Activities office before they can participate in a sport, including practice.

Sports Physicals Must Be Current by August 1

Health care providers throughout the metro routinely offer sports physicals to students who need them in advance of participating in a school sport. Check with your health care provider to find when sports physicals will be offered near you. As a reminder, DeLaSalle requires all students to have a current physical (current is defined as within the last three years) before a student can begin participating with a team, including practice. Twin Cities Orthopedics is among those providing free sports physicals. Learn more and sign up here

iPad Insurance Will Be Charged in August

Every DeLaSalle student is required to have an annual protection plan that covers the cost of accidental damage to their school-issued iPad. The protection plan costs $50 for the year. The Business Office will add this year’s protection plan charge to a family’s tuition invoice with payment due in August. The protection plan has a $20  co-pay per claim, with a maximum of two claims per school year.

Second Annual Summer Bridging Academy Launches Monday

We are excited to welcome 125 of the 200 registered students in the Class of 2025 to the Island on Monday, July 19 for our second annual Summer Bridging Academy. This optional three-week program gives students the opportunity to connect with their classmates, participate in service, and develop academic skills that will prepare them for their freshman year. Over 45 upperclass students from the Islander Leadership Team and several staff are ready to serve as facilitators of the program. Families who registered their student for the program and requested transportation received an email this week with bus pick-up times and locations.

An Update on School Transportation

Thank you to those families who have requested school transportation for their child for the 2021-22 school year. Northstar Bus Lines is creating bus routes on our behalf and this information will be emailed to students and families the first week of August. Thank you for your patience.

Drive for DeLaSalle!

DeLaSalle is hiring transportation drivers for the upcoming school year. This is a perfect part-time job for someone who prefers flexible hours and loves working with students. Starting pay is $21 an hour. DeLaSalle provides some training. Learn more about the job and apply today!

Student Parking Permits Will Be Sold in August

Student parking permit sales will begin the week of August 2. Parking permits cost $320. DeLaSalle will stagger sales based on grade level – permits will be offered first to seniors, then to juniors, and finally, if any permits remain, to sophomores. The school will email students and parents in each grade with a link to reserve your permit using a Google form. DeLaSalle will then send a follow-up email to those who have reserved a permit with a link to pay for it. If student parking permits for the DeLaSalle lot are sold out, students may purchase a parking permit for the overflow parking lot on the south side of the Hennepin Avenue Bridge. These passes are sold in coordination with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and cost $280 for the school year.

Don’t Forget About Summer Coursework for AP, Honors Classes

Teachers in several Advanced Placement and Honors classes have assigned coursework to be completed this summer by students registered for those classes. Students can find which coursework is required and when it is due on the Back-to-School webpage

FREE YMCA Membership for High Schoolers This Summer

Here’s a great opportunity for students to burn off some energy, improve their physical fitness, and find something to do this summer. The YMCA of the North is offering free membership to students in grades 9-12 through the end of September. The Get Summer program is made possible through financial support from the Richard Schulze Family Foundation. For more information, click here
