In the news…

Thanks to all who have taken part in our Catholic Schools Week/Winterfest celebration. We’ve loved seeing your creativity on the out of uniform days. Today is the last out of uniform day:

  • Friday: Mismatch Day: Stripes + plaid = okay! Matching doesn’t matter today.

Please remember, all out-of-uniform guidelines from the Student-Parent handbook are in effect. This means “No yoga pants, halter tops, tank tops, or bare midriffs; no sunglasses; and only knee length shorts and skits will be permitted” at any time during the week. Students in violation of these guidelines will be required to wear a uniform from the loaner closet.

The spirit stick is up for grabs, whoever can locate it will win a gift card! Once you find it, bring it to the Student Activities Office. The spirit stick is only hiding in general locations within the building, no classrooms, offices, or restrooms. You cannot look for the spirit stick during class hours; only during passing time, lunch, before and after school.

Check back here each morning for the new clue! May the odds be ever in your favor!

Friday’s Clue: People watch this all day, especially in quarantine. We have a ton of them around the building, but often they are not used. They have also been mentioned in 12 days of Christmas more than once! Which one is hiding the spirit stick behind it?

Congratulations to the DeLaSalle student musicians who will participate today in the Tri-Metro Conference Fine Arts Festival! This year’s event will be held virtually and students will spend the day learning in clinics from arts professionals from the Twin Cities and beyond, including a top call Broadway pit orchestra musician, college music professors, and a local singer/songwriter duo.

Congratulations to the following students:

B.L.K. (Black.Liberated.Knowledgeable) is hosting a talent show this month to show off student talents as part of Black History Month. If you have a talent that you would like to share with the community, please fill out this form. Organizers are looking for such talents as poetry, spoken word, song, and skits. See Ms. McAdams in the Guidance office with any questions.

If you took the PSAT and want to access your score, you can click here to find it. Hard copies are not available yet from the College Board. But when they do arrive, Ms. Braun from the Guidance office will schedule a WIN session to help juniors interpret their scores. If you cannot access your score online, you need to ensure that your name and birthdate are accurate and you cannot have two College Board accounts. If you are having trouble, you may contact the Student Helpline at 866-756-7346 or email Ms. Braun.

Help support reading! Riley Thompson ’21 is leading volunteers in the construction, decoration, and installation of Little Free Libraries as his Eagle Scout Service Project and is collecting books to fill the new libraries.

Please drop off any unwanted, extra, or used books (any reading level) at the front office. Donations will be used to fill Little Free Libraries in Ramsey County public parks, any extra books will be donated directly to the nonprofit organization, the Friends of Ramsey County Libraries.

Hispanic students are encouraged to apply for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships ranging from $500-$5,000. The deadline to apply is Monday, February 15. You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and plan to enroll in a four-year accredited college or university in the fall. To learn more about the scholarship and to apply, click here.

The DeLaSalle Ethics Bowl team has won the state championship for the second year in a row! The team took home the title during the second annual Minnesota Ethics Bowl competition on Sunday afternoon. The Islanders advance to a regional playoff with the winner going to nationals at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

The Summer Seminary Immersion Program is for high school men who are considering a vocation to the Roman Catholic priesthood. The two week program, taking place from June 26-July 10, helps young men discern God’s call while living in Old College, the undergraduate seminary of the Congregation of Holy Cross on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Interested? Apply here.

DeLaSalle families may order a supply of healthy breakfast and lunches for the days when their student is not on campus because they are participating via distance learning.

  • Students participating in hybrid learning may order a meal kit that contains three breakfasts and three lunches each. Families may use this form to order the meal kits. Orders must be placed by noon on the first day the student attends in-person instruction (Monday or Thursday) and picked up outside the kitchen at the end of the school day on the last day they attend (Tuesday or Friday).
  • Students participating in full distance learning may also order a meal kit that contains five breakfasts and five lunches each. Orders should be placed by noon on Thursday for pickup at 3:00pm on Friday. Families may use this form to place the order.

The meals are provided at no cost to families through an extension of the federal Summer Food Service Program.
