For the past several decades, DeLaSalle has required all prospective students to take the High School Entrance Exam as one of the four requirements for a complete admission application. In this application season — and particularly in light of rising pandemic case numbers in November and December — DeLaSalle has made the decision to modify the requirement for an Entrance Exam as one of the four application requirements for the Class of 2025. We continue our goal to be responsive as best possible to the many considerations before us and for all families.

We intend to honor our application requirements and applicant review process for the Class of 2025, just as we always have; however, in 2020-21, DeLaSalle will allow options to applicant families in fulfilling the Entrance Exam requirement.

  • Option One:  For applications for the Class of 2025, we will accept a set of standardized exam scores from 6th, 7th, or 8th grade (provided there are subsections within the exam in areas of Reading and mathematics and national percentile scores).  Families should make sure that the middle school includes historic test data when they are sending transcripts to DeLaSalle as part of the application process.  You can do this by indicating on your “Release of Records” form that you wish for your middle school’s business office to include test scores when they share a transcript with the Admissions Team.  We also would accept scores from an exam taken at a different high school.
  • Option Two:  DeLaSalle will still offer opportunities for eighth grade applicants to take an Entrance Exam at DeLaSalle.  If the applicant does not have a set of exam scores from grades 6-7-8, then the student must take/submit a set of exam scores from January 2021 as part of the application.  DeLaSalle will offer spaces for students to come to our campus and take the traditional Entrance Exam on January 9-16-23-30, each morning from 8:45 am – 12:00 pm.  We will follow all protocols currently in place for COVID safety, limiting the number of students in each testing room, with mandatory face coverings and physical distancing.  Of course, we will continue to evaluate as all of us move through these months.

In order to best plan for the multiple exams offered by DeLaSalle on each January Saturday, we need families to choose the exam date that meets your needs and pre-register by clicking the button below.

Thank you for helping us work with your family in completing your application and providing the best possible and safest experience for each student who comes to our campus for an exam.

Application materials are arriving at DeLaSalle every day.  In addition to a set of exam scores, students must submit the actual application, middle school transcripts (be sure to remind your school to include standardized exam scores), and at least one recommendation from a current teacher.  If an applicant submits two additional recommendations (three total), then we will consider the applicant for admission and also for potential academic/merit scholarship. Learn more about the key admission dates and process here.

We’re excited and grateful for the 300 families who have joined us for admission-related events since October, and/or scheduled and then toured DeLaSalle individually during weekdays, and/or contacted us directly via phone or email.  We are still hosting tours each week, we will be here to meet family needs during most days of the Christmas break, and we are always eager to share the DeLaSalle story as we learn more about yours.  Together, we will accomplish what we need to accomplish and still maximize the safety for all people and their loved ones.

Please contact us at admissionsoffice@delasalle.com or 612-676-7679 with any questions at any time.  We’re honored by your interest and your hopes.
