We’re Excited to Meet Prospective Families at Drive-Up Open House TOMORROW

Interest among prospective students and families in the Class of 2025 is so steady that we are hosting a second Drive-Up Admissions Open House on Saturday, November 14. Between 9:00am-12:00pm, we invite families to visit DeLaSalle, tour the school in person (in small groups of 1-2 families plus a tour guide, physically distanced, and with face coverings), and meet several of our amazing students and staff. We invite walk-ups, but we also strongly encourage you to pre-egister for this event here.

We also welcome individual meetings/tours with parents and students, because every “story” is important and every question deserves an answer. To arrange a weekday visit, please schedule one here or contact the Office of Admission at 612-676-7679 or at You may start an application to DeLaSalle here.

Please Join Us Tuesday for Updates at a Family Listening Session

With our ongoing goal to maintain open lines of communication with our families, DeLaSalle will again host a listening session to update interested parents. This listening session is Tuesday, November 17, at 6:00pm via Google Meet. Tenemos una sesion en español a las 7:00pm aquí. We will share what we have learned from the more than 300 responses to our student survey about the hybrid model, as well as on our ongoing response to the coronavirus pandemic. Those unable to attend may find a recording of the listening session in the November 20 edition of “Looking Ahead at DeLaSalle.”

School Pictures Scheduled Next Week

Photographers from Lifetouch will take school pictures Monday, November 16 for Gold Cohort students and Thursday, November 19 for Silver Cohort students. The photographer will be on campus until 4:00pm on both days for students in the Blue Cohort who wish to have their school picture taken after school. Blue Cohort students should sign up here to indicate when they will have their picture taken. Students must be dressed in school uniform. Ninth grade and new transfer students had their school pictures taken in August. Parents may review, select, and pay for a photo package through the Lifetouch website. Parents will have up to 48 hours after Picture Day to complete their online order. Please refer to DeLaSalle’s Picture Day ID EVTBPRTKB

David Bank Studios to Take Senior Pictures Wednesday; Senior Yearbook Ads Now Available
Seniors who wish to have their photo included in the school yearbook and in the class composite picture that hangs in the hallway must get a senior picture taken by David Bank Studios before December 15. A David Bank photographer will come to DeLaSalle for free on Wednesday, November 18. Please sign up for an appointment slot here. Photos will be taken in the DeLaSalle Main Gym. You may dress in school appropriate attire. Please remember to wear a mask into the building and follow physical distancing guidelines when you enter the school. Families may also schedule a photo session at the studio; sessions start at $35. Families who choose to have pictures at the studio can select which photo to be included in the yearbook.

Families who are looking for a way to publicly recognize or pay tribute to their senior can also consider buying a Parent Senior Ad in the yearbook. Senior Ads are a huge part of the yearbook that students turn to right away when they receive their book. There are two ways to order senior ads:

  • Complete the Parent Senior Ad Order form and return it with payment to Ms. Bryson-Tucker in the IT Office or the Ms. Goeddeke in the Main Office.
  • Order online at

You may design the ads yourself on the Balfour website (preferable), design them yourself, or have the yearbook staff design one for you. Parent Senior Ads orders are due by December 15.

Sacrament of Reconciliation Offered Tuesday

Our school chaplain, Fr. Kevin Kenney ’78, will be on campus on Tuesday, November 17 and is available to hear confessions. Students, faculty, or staff who would like to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation or would like to meet with Fr. Kevin for a prayer or blessing , please contact Nicole Stecklein by Monday at 12:00pm and we will add you to the schedule.

Standardized Tests Offered to Ninth and Tenth Graders; Register by December 4

DeLaSalle typically administers standardized tests to all students on the second Wednesday of each October. Students in grades 9-10-11 take developmentally appropriate standardized tests which help prepare them for college entrance exams. This year, we have had to spread out the tests to accommodate for COVID-19 safety protocols.

DeLaSalle will offer the Iowa Test of Educational Development to ninth grade students on Wednesday, January 27, from 8:30am-12:30pm. Tenth graders may take the Pre-ACT on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, from 8:30am-12:00pm. All students are strongly encouraged to take the test offered at their grade level but must opt-in. Please click on the name of the test for a form that describes the test and provides specific logistics and registration. All tests are paper-pencil and given onsite following our Covid-19 school safety protocols.

Please complete the registration for each exam by Friday, December 4.

School-Based ACT Test Offered in March; Register by December 4

DeLaSalle will offer a school-based ACT test to current students on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. We are excited to announce this opportunity as we do not know what testing centers will be open or closed this spring and summer, or how colleges will handle college entrance exams for the Class of 2022. This school-based test DOES NOT appear on the ACT website list of national test dates. You must register and pay for the test through DeLaSalle. The last day to register for the test is Friday, December 4. Please register here.

This is the second school-based ACT test we are offering this year. These tests follow developments this past spring and summer when most ACT national test dates and test center sites were closed due to COVID-19. Most colleges have made college entrance exam requirements optional for the 2020-21 application cycle. Some post-secondary institutions have dropped college entrance exams on a temporary basis, some have committed to more than one year of going test-optional,  and some have taken this opportunity to change their policy to test-optional for the foreseeable future.

Around DeLaSalle

Even though we couldn’t host an on-campus Academic Awards ceremony this fall due to the pandemic, we found a way to recognize students this week for their academic achievements. DeLaSalle honored students before their peers during lunches for all of their hard work in the classroom. Continue reading (Photo courtesy: Matt Lehman, DeLaSalle staff)
