DeLaSalle Hosts Family Listening Session on Tuesday, November 17

With our ongoing goal to maintain open lines of communication with our families, DeLaSalle will again host a listening session to update interested parents. This listening session is Tuesday, November 17, at 6:00pm via Google Meet. Tenemos una sesion en español a las 7:00pm aquí. We will share what we have learned from the more than 300 responses to our student survey about the hybrid model, as well as on our ongoing response to the coronavirus pandemic. Those unable to attend may find a recording of the listening session in the November 20 edition of “Looking Ahead at DeLaSalle.”

Join Us for DeLaSalle Day of Giving on Wednesday, November 11

DeLaSalle hosts its fifth annual Day of Giving on Wednesday, November 11, a 24-hour opportunity to show how much we can raise to support our students in 2020-21. Last year alumni, parents, grandparents, students, faculty, staff and friends helped the school raise $135,000 in a single day. This year, we invite YOU to make a gift. Early giving has already begun, so you don’t have to wait a single moment to support DeLaSalle students! All gifts made from now until midnight on November 11 will count towards the day’s challenges.

  • Friends and Leadership
If 250 people make a gift, the Board of Trustees and committee members will give a $20,000 challenge gift to the Brother Michael Collins Fund for Student Scholarships.

  • Parents and Past Parents
If at least 100 families give, anonymous friends of DeLaSalle will donate $10,000 to the Endowment.

  • Alumni
The gauntlet has been thrown, alumni! For two years in a row, the Class of 1967 has had the most donors on Day of Giving. You’re not going to let them get a third, are you?

  • Young Alumni
This just in… a new DeLaSalle donor wants to encourage giving among our recent graduates. We know your budgets are tight, so give what you can. $5, $10, $50. For every dollar you give, our new donor will give a dollar to match your donation.

Make your gift here!

DeLaSalle Will Recognize Students for Academic Achievement

Each fall, DeLaSalle typically holds an Academic Awards ceremony to celebrate student academic achievement. We are unable to host an on-campus ceremony this fall due to the pandemic. Instead, the school will honor students during lunches on Tuesday, November 10 for Gold Cohort students and on Friday, November 13 for Silver Cohort students. Students will receive an academic pin if they earned a place on the Honor Roll during both semesters of the 2019-20 school year, and an academic letter if they have earned a place on the Honor Roll for four semesters. DeLaSalle will honor inductees into the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society at a later date. Congratulations to all students who have earned recognition for their hard work.

Students, Families Invited to Virtual College Fair on Sunday

Meet with admissions representatives from over 600 colleges at the first ever virtual College Fairs. Sign up here for the fair this Sunday from 1:00-9:00pm. Parents and students are encouraged to attend and spend some time learning about each school, connect, and ask questions.

Second Admissions Drive-Up Open House on Saturday, November 14

Interest among prospective students and families in the Class of 2025 is so strong that we are hosting a second Drive-Up Admissions Open House on Saturday, November 14. Between 9:00am-12:00pm, we invite families to visit DeLaSalle, tour the school in person (in small groups, physically distanced, and with face coverings), and meet our amazing students and staff. We invite walk-ups, but we also strongly encourage you to pre-egister for this event here.

We also welcome individual meetings/tours with parents and students, because every “story” is important and every question deserves an answer. To arrange a visit, please schedule one here or contact the Office of Admission at 612-676-7679 or at You may start an application to DeLaSalle here.

School Pictures Scheduled Week of November 16

Photographers from Lifetouch will take school pictures Monday, November 16 for Gold Cohort students and Thursday, November 19 for Silver Cohort students. The photographer will be on campus until 4:00pm on both days for students in the Blue Cohort who wish to have their school picture taken after school. Blue Cohort students should sign up here to indicate when they will have their picture taken. Students must be dressed in school uniform. Ninth grade and new transfer students had their school pictures taken in August. Parents may review, select, and pay for a photo package through the Lifetouch website. Parents will have up to 48 hours after Picture Day to complete their online order. Please refer to DeLaSalle’s Picture Day ID EVTBPRTKB.

David Bank Studios to Take Senior Pictures November 18; Senior Yearbook Ads Now Available

Seniors who wish to have their photo included in the school yearbook and in the class composite picture that hangs in the hallway must get a senior picture taken by David Bank Studios before December 15. A David Bank photographer will come to DeLaSalle for free on Wednesday, November 18. Please sign up for an appointment slot here. Photos will be taken in the DeLaSalle Main Gym. You may dress in school appropriate attire. Please remember to wear a mask into the building and follow physical distancing guidelines when you enter the school. Families may also schedule a photo session at the studio; sessions start at $35. Families who choose to have pictures at the studio can select which photo to be included in the yearbook.

Families who are looking for a way to publicly recognize or pay tribute to their senior can also consider buying a Parent Senior Ad in the yearbook. Senior Ads are a huge part of the yearbook that students turn to right away when they receive their book. There are two ways to order senior ads:

  • Complete the Parent Senior Ad Order form and return it with payment to Ms. Bryson-Tucker in the IT Office or the Ms. Goeddeke in the Main Office.
  • Order online at

You may design the ads yourself on the Balfour website (preferable), design them yourself, or have the yearbook staff design one for you. Parent Senior Ads orders are due by December 15.

Students May Register Now for Winter Sports

DeLaSalle students can now register to participate in one of several winter sports offered.

Boys’ basketball and boys’ hockey begin the season November 23; girls’ hockey, wrestling, and boys’ swimming and diving begin November 30; and girls’ basketball begins December 7.  Before a student can participate in a winter sport, he or she must complete the following requirements:

Around DeLaSalle

Hats off to the cast and crew for their outstanding outdoor performances last weekend of “The Spitfire Grill.” DeLaSalle Theatre staged the fall musical as family and friends watched from a distance on the athletic field. Auditions are scheduled this coming Tuesday and Thursday for upcoming productions – a virtual performance of “A Christmas Story” as well as a to-be-announced podcast play and the school’s MSHSL Competition One Act entry.
