Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels

Angel of God,
my guardian dear,
To whom God’s love
commits me here,
Ever this day,
be at my side,
To light and guard,
Rule and guide.

Amen

In response to the closures of ACT test centers in the spring and the summer, DeLaSalle has added a school-based ACT test for seniors (registration is closed) on Tuesday, October 6.

All students NOT testing should be prepared for:

  1. Maintaining a serious and quiet enviroment in the hallways.
  2. Plan accordingly for hallway closures.
    • Hallway outside of B301 and B302
    • Hallway in back of theatre to D117,
    • Hallway in front of D104.
    • Please plan an alternate route to class if you use these hallways. If you have class in any of these rooms during testing your teacher will give you an alternate location for your class that day.

Seniors not testing do not have class on Tuesday, October 6.

Thank you for working together to create a positive and supportive testing environment for our seniors.

Learn how to drive from an Islander alum! The next driver’s ed class starts Monday. Students will receive 30 hours of instruction over 15 days in October. The class will be taught via Google Meet from 4:00-6:00pm. Classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training cost $399 and the program will accept the first 30 students who register with a $200 down payment. Click here for more information.

Come join us on Tuesday at 3:15 for a distanced garden party! Meet in the back vegetable garden by the athletic field. We will be putting our gardens to sleep and harvesting all crops. Bring garden gloves if you have them. We will enjoy  hot chocolate and cookies as well.

College representative visits, like most things in this pandemic, have gone virtual. Students can sign up to meet with college representatives to learn more about a school you might be interested in. You can find a list of which colleges are visiting DeLaSalle in your Naviance account (9th graders will get their Naviance account later in the school year). After you’ve logged into Naviance, click on the “Colleges I’m Thinking About” and in the side bar, click on Visits. You can also find a schedule of college rep visits on the Guidance Twitter account (@beyonddls) College rep visits are held during the WIN time, during other class periods and also after school or in the early evening. For more about the visits, click here.

Though spring sports are several months away, students may begin participating in an optional training season this fall. The fall training season for baseball, softball, boys’ tennis, and boys’ and girls’ golf is October 5-24. Track and field will not have an optional fall training season. Students who wish to participate in the training must register for the sport:

Students who are registered will receive more information this week about dates, times, and locations for the fall training.
