Transportation Routes Adjusted; Check Email for Details

Thank you to those families who have chosen school bus transportation for your child. This week, we worked with our new transportation provider, Northstar Bus Lines, to adjust routes to accommodate for those students who have enrolled in recent days, for those families who had not previously requested transportation, and for those students who no longer require transportation services. We communicated route changes to families via email. Please check your inbox to see if your child’s route has a new pickup time.

National College Fair Goes Virtual; Tune in This Sunday

Meet with representatives from hundreds of colleges and universities in the virtual NACAC National College Fair this Sunday, September 13, from 11:00am-7:00pm. More than 600 colleges and universities will be accessible at virtualcollegefairs.org to offer live and interactive Zoom sessions and more. Students everywhere can log in, drop in, and ask questions. Can’t attend this Sunday’s virtual fair? Additional college fairs will be held online on October 12, October 18, and November 8.

DeLaSalle Parents in Prayer Meets Friday, September 18
The DeLaSalle Parents in Prayer group will hold its first gathering of the school year on Friday, September 18, at 12:00pm at the new Baldwin Family Prayer Grotto. The grotto is located in the courtyard next to Founder’s Park near the intersection of Grove Street and West Island Avenue. Any DeLaSalle parent is invited to attend and should bring their own blanket or chair. The group will practice proper social distancing as it prays for the school, the staff, and the students. For more information, contact Parent Association chair Jackie Schluter Johnson
DeLaSalle Welcomes New Faculty and Staff

As we begin the 2020-21 school year, we are excited to welcome several new classroom teachers and staff members to DeLaSalle. Learn more about our newest employees here.

Activity Clubs and Organizations Begin Meeting Week of September 14

Several student activities will begin meeting for the first time the week of September 14. Some activities and clubs will look different this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But what has not changed is the opportunity for students to explore their interests and connect with their classmates while participating in fine arts programs, academic clubs, and other organizations. Students may still register here to participate.

Moderators have begun communicating and will continue to email students registered for an activity with specific details about when and where activities will take place. Some clubs, but not all, will meet during the WIN period. For more information, visit the Activity Programs webpage.

Approved Fall Training Seasons for Football and Volleyball Begin Monday, September 14

Football and volleyball may begin a Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) fall training season on September 14. Each program will be allowed to host a maximum of 12 practices between September 14-October 3. All students who choose to participate in the training season must complete the following three registration steps (your registration for the Fall Training Season will carry over to the Spring Competition Season):

  1. Read, sign, and return the 2020-2021 MSHSL Eligibility Brochure as part of your Back-to-School forms.
  2. Confirm that you have a valid sports physical on file in the Activities Office.
  3. Complete and submit the football registration form or volleyball registration form.

Student-athletes and families must also read and review the Approved Fall Training Sessions Directives prior to participating in Fall Training Sessions.

Certified Athletic Trainer Available During WIN Period

DeLaSalle has adopted a new system for making athletic training appointments with our Certified Athletic Trainer, Cindy Schlafmann. Cindy will be available during Session 2 of WIN time on Tuesdays and Fridays for check-in appointments OR Wednesday evenings at Bryn Mawr Park. Students can make an appointment on the Athletic Training Appointments Google Calendar here.

If you need to connect with Cindy directly regarding an injury or appointment, please contact her via the Remind app. Please always remember to notify your coach of injuries as well so they can follow up with Cindy.

UPDATE: School Store Hours

We incorrectly reported the hours of the DeLaSalle School Store in the September 4 edition of “Looking Ahead at DeLaSalle.” The store, which is located on the first floor lobby of the A building, will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:00-5:00pm, through October 15. Driver’s Education Class Offered in October

DeLaSalle students may sign up for a driver’s education class offered by an Islander alum. Ray Kroll ‘60 has taught the classes through his employer, Driver’s Education Incorporated. While Ray is not teaching the course this fall, he is helping register students for it. Students will receive 30 hours of instruction over 15 days in October. The class will be taught via Google Meet from 4:00-6:00pm. Classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training cost $399 and the program will accept the first 30 students who register with a $200 down payment. Click here for more information.
