Back-to-School Information Here; Includes Recording from Student-Parent Information Session
Thank you to the many families who attended our student-parent information session the evening of August 20. If you were not able to attend, you may watch a recording of the Zoom call here. (Please enter the password 6p+qnz#& to view the recording).

We have also prepared several helpful Back-to-School resources that will ensure your student and family are ready for a successful start to the 2020-21 school year when classes begin on Monday August 31.

Please contact the school at (612) 676-7600 if you have any further questions.

New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 27 for Ninth Graders, New Transfer Students

We are excited to welcome all ninth grade and new transfer students to New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 27. Each student should bring his or her iPad and be dressed in full school uniform. School transportation will not be available this day so parents must provide a ride or arrange transportation for their child. Students will receive their class schedule and get a tour of the building to familiarize themselves with where classes will be held. Students will also have their school picture taken for their student identification card on this day. Please click here to read how you can purchase school photos.

Please note the orientation times and check-in details below:

  • Ninth grade students who participated in the Summer Bridging Academy will attend orientation from 9:00am-12:30pm. The check in location for students is based on their Summer Bridging Academy group. (Look for a separate communication from the Admissions office with exact details). Students should arrive by 8:45am to complete the check-in process.
  • Ninth grade students who did not participate in the Summer Bridging Academy will attend  orientation from 9:00am-1:00pm. These students should check in at the A building entrance. Students should arrive by 8:45am to complete the check-in process.
  • New transfer students will check in for orientation at 12:15pm and attend orientation from 12:30-2:40pm.

As a reminder, students must wear a face covering while attending orientation and should not report to school if they have any COVID-19 symptoms or a temperature higher than 100.4F. Please contact Mike O’Keefe with additional questions at (612) 676-7679.

Minneapolis Students to Receive Transportation Information Next Week

Students who live in Minneapolis and requested school bus transportation will receive a postcard in the mail or an email message the week of August 24 from our transportation provider, Northstar Bus Lines. The message will include the student’s bus stop location as well as morning pickup and afternoon dropoff times. School bus transportation for students will begin on the first day of classes on Monday, August 31. Students who live outside of Minneapolis who requested direct service transportation from DeLaSalle received route information from the school earlier this month.

Buying School Uniforms and Picking Up Pre-placed Orders

The DeLaSalle School Store will be open next week to sell school uniform items and distribute orders placed earlier this summer. The School Store will be open during the following times:

  • Monday, August 24: 4:00-7:00pm
  • Tuesday, August 25: 4:00-7:00pm

Families picking up a uniform order should enter through the A building entrance. Visitors are required to wear a face covering while inside the school.

DeLaSalle Celebrates Mass of the Holy Spirit, Dedicates Prayer Grotto Friday, August 28
DeLaSalle will celebrate the opening school year Mass of the Holy Spirit and dedicate the new Baldwin Family Prayer Grotto on Friday, August 28. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am. At 11:00am, following Mass, the school will dedicate the new Baldwin Family Prayer Grotto, located in a courtyard between the B building and Christian Brothers’ Hall. The centerpiece of the grotto is a life-size statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary that has been modeled after DeLaSalle students. We had wanted to celebrate this occasion with our entire school community, but this is the only date on which the entire Baldwin family could gather to celebrate the grotto. The grotto will provide a space for quiet prayer and reflection for our entire community and the many people who visit our historic campus location on Nicollet Island each year.
Don’t Forget to Add Money to Your Student’s Cafeteria Account
Students must have money in their cafeteria account in order to purchase breakfast or lunch items from the DeLaSalle Cafe. DeLaSalle uses LunchTime to manage cafeteria accounts. Families may create an account and electronically deposit money into that account for their student. DeLaSalle this year will not accept cash or check payments at the school to prevent the handling of currency. Click here for instructions on how to create and manage your LunchTime account. Bank account and credit card transactions are subject to a fee, charged by LunchTime. Online deposits will appear in the point of sale system within 30 minutes of completing the transaction. Please contact cafe@delasalle.com with questions.
Learn More About University of St. Thomas Latino Scholars Program

Hispanic juniors and seniors at DeLaSalle who aspire to attend college and need financial support are invited to learn more about the Verso L’alto program through the University of St. Thomas during a welcome barbecue on Thursday, August 27. The program immerses high school students into college life and prepares them for university study. It is a precursor to the Latino Scholars program, which provides annual scholarships to students. Students can major in one of several fields while also majoring or minoring in Catholic Studies. The Latino Scholars program is designed for students to meet other students seeking to prioritize their faith life as well as be formed professionally throughout their undergraduate years at St. Thomas. Learn more here. Contact Melina Sotro for more information.

There are several days the week of August 24 on which all staff will participate in meetings and may not be available. You may find a staff member’s contact information through our online directory and we encourage you to send an email for the fastest response.
