Conference with Your Child’s Teachers on Wednesday
Parents and guardians of DeLaSalle students are invited to conference with teachers regarding their student’s academic progress during Parent-Student-Teacher conferences on Wednesday, March 11. Conferences are from 1:00-8:00pm. There are no classes on March 11. You do not need an appointment to conference with a teacher. As students and parents can benefit by hearing the same commendations and recommendations from teachers, we strongly suggest students and parents attend conferences and participate in these conversations together. Parent Association Explores How to Encourage Teens’ Faith Lives

Join the Parent Association on Monday, March 9, as we welcome Theology teacher and department chair, Keely Wojda, for a spirited discussion on encouraging our children’s faith lives. The meeting is from 6:30-8:00pm in the Thies Lab (D207). Before coming to teach at De, Keely was a Religious Education director for several years. She’s also a mother of five, including three college graduates, and she brings a broad perspective to help explain practical steps you can take to increase prayer and opportunities for your family to live your faith. All De parents are members of the Association by virtue of enrolling their son or daughter at De. As always, we’ll have good conversation and company.

DeLaSalle Participates in Diversity Career Fair on Saturday

DeLaSalle joins nine other schools in participating in the Minnesota Independent Schools Diversity Career Fair on Saturday, March 7. The fair is from 9:00am-12:00pm at Breck School in Golden Valley. Faculty, staff, and school administrators who identify as people of color/indigenous are welcome to learn more about employment opportunities at DeLaSalle and other independent schools. In addition to DeLaSalle, participating schools include: Blake, Breck, Friends School of Minnesota, Groves Academy, Minnehaha Academy, Mounds Park Academy, Shattuck-St. Marys, St. Paul Academy and Summit School, and Waldorf City of Lakes. Visit this website for more information and to register for the fair.

Good Luck to Students Competing at Regional History Day

We send best wishes to the students who will present their History Day projects at the Metro Regional competition on Monday, March 9, at the University of Minnesota. DeLaSalle advanced 35 projects and one research paper to the regional competition, and judges will decide which projects qualify for state on Saturday, May 2. History Day is an annual project in the 11th grade Social Studies curriculum that gives juniors an opportunity to become expert historians, selecting and researching a topic of their choice around a national theme, which this year is “Breaking Barriers in History.”  Continue reading

“Catch Me If You Can” Spring Musical Opens Next Weekend

The award-winning DeLaSalle Theatre cast and crew present a classic Broadway show as its spring musical. Performances of “Catch Me If You Can” are March 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, at 7:30pm on the Friendshuh Stage in the Florance Center. “Catch Me If You Can” is a rousing musical set in the 1960s that tells the tale of Frank Abagnale Jr., an ingenious, yet lonely boy looking for his place in the world. Reserved tickets cost $15; general admission $10; non-DLS students and seniors $8; and free for De students with school ID. Find tickets here

Parents in Prayer

Thursday, March 26, 12:00-1:00pm, Thies Lab creative side (D207)

Join other DeLaSalle parents, alumni, and friends in lifting up the De community in prayer. We hope students, staff, families and friends at DeLaSalle will feel encouraged by the knowledge that people care about them, are excited for them and are PRAYING FOR THEM! You may submit prayer requests, which may remain anonymous, to prayer boxes located in the main office, Lasallian Ministry, or Theology classrooms.

12th Grade Retreat

Wednesday, April 15

All seniors will participate in their final class retreat. Organized by Lasallian Ministry, the retreat helps students gain healthy closure on their high school years. Please contact Peg Hodapp with questions.

Enrollment Orientation for Class of 2024

Saturday, April 18, 9:00am-12:00pm

The Enrollment Orientation gives registered incoming 9th graders the opportunity to take a math placement exam and also learn more about their new school. While students are testing, parents will participate in orientation sessions. All will gather again after the test and families/parents may meet with people they may want or need to see. Coaches and moderators of all student activities/athletics will be present to answer questions at a Student Activity Fair. Families may also meet with representatives from the Business Office, Transportation, Islander Foundation, Student Services, School Store, and more!

Around DeLaSalle

Following successful visits in late February with alumni and friends in Arizona, DeLaSalle Advancement staff will visit Islanders in Florida next week. DeLaSalle will host an alumni and friends luncheon on Wednesday, March 11, at the Club at Barefoot Beach in Bonita Springs, Florida, near Naples. If you will be in the area then and would like to attend, please contact Veronica Rucker. The winter meetings allow us to share the many good things happening at DeLaSalle with generous donors.
