In the news…

On Tuesday, January 28, Fr. Bruno will be offering morning Mass at 8:00am and will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the chapel during all lunches. We encourage all students and staff to take advantage of these great opportunities. Please come to the Lasallian Ministry office before going to the chapel for Reconciliation.

Each month, a group of DeLaSalle parents and family members gather on campus to lift up our community in prayer. All parents, family members, friends, and alumni are welcome to participate when the group meets on Tuesday, January 28 from 12:00-1:00pm in room B202.

We hope students, staff, families, and friends at DeLaSalle will feel encouraged by the knowledge that people care about them, are excited for them and are PRAYING FOR THEM! You may submit prayer requests, which may remain anonymous, to prayer boxes located in the main office, Lasallian Ministry, or Theology classrooms.

On Tuesday, January 14, the Activities Office hosted its first Activities Leadership Team meeting of 2020! At this meeting, we talked about the culture of activities at DeLaSalle, where we are now, and where we want to go.

If you are interested in attending our next meeting it will take place during lunches on Tuesday, January 28. Periods 4 & 6 will be in the Schulze Lab (D104)- South Side and period 5 will be in the Schulze Lab Conference Room. Please contact the Activities Office if you have any questions.

Join the Green Team for an afternoon movie and popcorn On Tuesday, January 28 at 3:15. We will be showing Chasing Ice in B110 (Art Room).

In Chasing Ice, acclaimed National Geographic James Balog who was once a skeptic of climate change, deploys revolutionary time-lapse cameras to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers.

Come join the coding club! Play with robots and run through mazes, learn to create a mobile app, learn programming in Swift, Python or Java, or learn to make a website. See Mr. Pearson in Room A213 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3-4:30.

Do you want to learn to play chess? Do you want to get better at chess? Are you good at chess? Are you a chess champion? Do you enjoy playing chess? If your answer to any of these questions is “yes”, then please join us for Chess Club each Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 in Room A208. Drop in to play one game or more games. We would love to have you join us!

Breakthrough Twin Cities is looking for applicants for their nationally-ranked, undergraduate-level Teaching Fellow Internship.

On Wednesday, January 29, Rachel Banen (Program Manager) will be hosting a recruitment event in the Guidance Office from 3:15-4:30 PM.

We seek applicants with a deep interest in social justice and a passion for working with students. Our Teaching Fellows must be committed to personal growth and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Because we celebrate the diversity of our community, we seek undergraduate applicants from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. During the nine-week residency, Breakthrough teaching fellows receive over 100 hours of teaching and leadership training, and 75 hours of lead classroom experience.

Coach Barry will be on campus during lunches on Wednesday, January 29th to go over the upcoming boys’ tennis season. Period 4 and 5 will be in the Thies Creative Lab and Period 6 will be in the Activities Office. If you are planning on participating in boys’ tennis starting in March- please stop by and meet Coach Barry.

Join us for a special Winterfest Event for 9th graders after school on Thursday, January 30th, from 3:15 to 6:00pm in Room D104.

We will work together to make tie blankets for teenagers staying at YouthLink. There will be games to celebrate together and build community. You can earn one hour of Christian Service and we will eat pizza together as well. Please see Ms. Barry, Mr. Sczepanski, or Ms. Gillund if you have any questions.

All students are invited to participate in the 5th annual Cities United Black History Month Event at North Hennepin Community College on Friday, February 7th. We will depart DLS at 8:30 a.m. and return by 1:30. Sign up here.

Theatre presents its winter one acts, which feature a one-act of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, directed by Jamie Wheeler ‘20, and a few musical numbers.

Shows are at 7:30pm on January 24, 25, 31, and February 1. Performances are held on the Friendshuh Stage in the Florance Center.

Tickets cost $15 for reserved seats; $10 for general admission; $8 for non DeLaSalle students and senior citizens, and free for De students with school ID. To purchase reserved tickets, please email All other tickets are available for purchase at the door.
