Dear God, We thank you for the brave women and men who have fought, and continue to fight, so courageously for our nation. We ask for your covering and blessing over them and their families. We pray that you would be gracious and encircle them with your peace. We pray for your great favor and goodness to be evident in their lives.

As the weather gets colder please remember the following uniform policies in order to help you stay warm:
- For extra warmth, students need to wear a DeLaSalle uniform sweater, sweatshirt or quarter-zip sweatshirt. Students are not permitted to wear non-uniform sweatshirts, sweaters, jackets, scarves, gloves, hats or any other outdoor attire during the school day. All non-uniform items should be stored in your locker during the school day.
- Students may wear black leggings and/or solid black or white tights or nylons underneath a uniform skirt. Students should refrain from wearing sweatpants or jogger style leggings.
Parents—do you have a lot on your plate? Join the Parent Association on Monday as we welcome anthropologist Dr. Solveig Brown, who will present the latest research on keeping kids safe and healthy; managing screen time and social media; curbing entitlement; the pressure on achievement and so much more. You will come away with a better understanding of how cultural changes have increased feelings of pressure, guilt, and judgment for parents. The Parent Association meets from 6:30-8:00pm and all DeLaSalle parents are invited.
As always, there will be good food and even better conversation.
All are welcome to join Lasallian Ministry for Mass with Father Bruno on Tuesday mornings at 8:00AM in the school chapel. The chapel is located in Christian Brothers Hall through the Lasallian Ministry office.
Every year, students in each grade participate in an all-day class retreat on Tuesday, November 12 as part of their DeLaSalle education. These retreats, which are organized through Lasallian Ministry, help build class unity and allow students to deepen their faith and knowledge of their place in the world. The 9th grade retreat will help students reflect on the value of respect. Students must pack their own lunch for the day.
Due to a non-DeLaSalle event, the Nicollet Island Pavilion overflow parking lot will not be available for parking on Wednesday. In any event, where students are not able to park in the Nicollet Island Pavilion overflow lot, students may NOT park in a DeLaSalle parking lot. Students without a valid DeLaSalle parking permit risk a restrictive boot or tow if they choose to park in the main school parking lot. Park Board permit holders are allowed to park at the Boom Island pay lot on days where Nicollet Island Pavilion events prevent them from parking in the overflow pay lot.

More info: The Darst Center Urban Immersion is a workshop retreat that serves as a tool to explore issues of justice and the reality of oppression. Through partnerships with local agencies, retreat participants get to know people served by these agencies, challenge stereotypes, confront fears, and break down barriers. Daily communal prayer, meal preparation, recreational and educational sessions are designed to reflect on the work and observations conducted at agencies.
Examples of social agencies that will be used as the sites for the field experiences include: The Chicago Food Depository, Su Casa, The Port, San Miguel Schools, Chicago Youth Centers, St. Martin DePorres.
Participants will be awarded 18 Christian Service hours upon completion of the retreat.
The cost of the retreat is $260. A $60 non-refundable deposit is due Dec. 10th and the final $200 payment will be due by January 15, 2019. See Ms. Stecklein if the cost is prohibitive.
Winter sports are just around the corner! DeLaSalle students who wish to participate in a winter sport must register for the sport before it holds its first practice. Students received an email with a registration link and season start dates. As a reminder, DeLaSalle students must have a current physical (current within the last three years) and Minnesota State High School League eligibility statement on file with the Activities Office before they can participate in a sport. DeLaSalle offers winter sports in boys’ and girls’ basketball, JV competition cheer, boys’ and girls’ hockey, sideline cheer, boys’ swimming, and wrestling. Our hockey, wrestling, and swimming teams are co-op programs with other schools.
