College Representatives Begin Visiting DeLaSalle

Students can learn more about postsecondary options when representatives from dozens of colleges and universities hold on-campus visits at DeLaSalle. Visits are typically held in the Guidance office (B102) and most last the whole class period. You can find which schools are visiting in both “The Source” and on the “College Visits, College Fairs and Events” calendar, available on the School Calendar webpage. Students may sign up for visits in Naviance and must notify their teacher at least one day before the visit by showing the teacher their registration in Naviance. Students are responsible for any work they miss during the college rep visit. The Guidance office will give students passes back to class if the visit does not take the whole period.

Learn How to Find, Apply for College Financial Aid

Come learn about the many options for paying for college at our College Financial Aid Planning Night on Wednesday, September 11. The program is from 6:30-7:30pm in the Schulze Learning Lab (D104). Take away tools for navigating the new FAFSA; applying to colleges, researching scholarships, grants and loan options; all in a way that makes sense for your family. Resources from the Minnesota Office of Higher Education will be available.

Admission Staff Begin Grade, Middle School Visits Monday

What a blessing that so many families have chosen to join the De community! Our enrollment is the largest it’s been in 48 years, up 30 percent in the past eight years alone. We now welcome families from more than 125 different grade schools across the Twin Cities — from St. Michael to Cottage Grove, from Prior Lake to White Bear Lake.  Almost 600 families with 8th graders contacted and/or visited De last year. Over 400 8th graders submitted an application. We are close to building capacity once again – with enough room to welcome another 175-200 9th graders in the 2019-20 school year.

Representatives of DeLaSalle’s Office of Admission have been invited to visit several area grade schools and middle schools through the fall. Click here for a full schedule – with a few dates yet to be confirmed. At some schools, we will offer a 20-minute presentation to the students only. At others, we join a School Fair format and meet both parents and students. We look forward to seeing you soon…

Save Your Spot at the Christian Brothers’ Gala

We are excited as we plan DeLaSalle’s only student scholarship benefit – and there are many ways you can get involved and show your support:

  • Purchase your tickets: Invitations will soon arrive in your mailbox, but you can register and purchase your ticket online here.

  • Volunteer: We need your help with everything from assembling auction baskets, to setting up the Gala venue, to hosting the event, and cleaning up afterward. Click here to see which volunteer opportunities are available (for both students and parents) and sign up to help. Students will earn Christian Service hours for volunteering at the Gala.

  • Donate: Help us make this the most enchanted evening ever! Please review our Gala wish list and let us know if you can donate auction items such as gift cards, event tickets, artwork, activities, and themed baskets.

The Gala directly impacts every DeLaSalle student. Thank you for considering how you can support our mission.

Questions? Please contact Gala coordinator, Brenda Irvin, at 612-676-7655.

Apply Online for Free, Reduced Lunch Benefits

DeLaSalle students and families can apply for free and reduced lunch benefits. Benefits continue through October 8 for those students who received free or reduced lunch in the 2018-19 school year at DeLaSalle. Students must submit a new application each school year. You can now complete the application online through LunchTime Net. Click here for more information and to start your application today.

If you have already turned in a paper application, then Pam Beckman, DeLaSalle’s food services director, will be in touch with you shortly about your application status.

Class Masses Continue

In addition to all-school liturgies, students in each grade will gather as a class this fall to celebrate Mass. School chaplain, Fr. Bruno Nwachukwu, will celebrate each Mass at nearby Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Class Masses occur for 11th grade on Sept. 10; 10th grade on Sept. 17; and 9th grade on September 24. Students should report to their first hour class and then will dismiss to the Florance Center for a grade level meeting before departing for Mass.

DeLaSalle’s college counselors will visit classrooms next week to meet with seniors and share information on what they should be doing now as part of their college and career planning. This is an individual process as unique as each child in the Class of 2020. All seniors should make an appointment with their college adviser to get personalized advice and continue moving forward with this process.
