DeLaSalle Announces Second Semester Honor Roll; Underclass Academic Awards; Full List of Senior Awards

With the end of another school year comes the opportunity for DeLaSalle to recognize students for their achievement in and out of the classroom.

  • DeLaSalle congratulates those students who have been named to the second semester honor roll. Students earn a place on the High Honor Roll if they earned a semester grade point average of 3.8 or better, or a place on the Honor Roll if they earned a semester grade point average of 3.0 to 3.8. See the Honor Roll here.

  • At the end of each school year, DeLaSalle recognizes students in grades 9-10-11 for their academic achievement with underclass academic awards. Read the complete list here.

  • DeLaSalle last month announced many of the awards received by members of the Class of 2019. These included the most prestigious awards – the “DeLaSalle Award” and the “Islander Award”. At the Baccalaureate Mass on May 22, the school also recognized graduating seniors with several honors, which you can see here.

DeLaSalle Will Send Annual ‘Back-to-School’ Forms in July; Completed Forms Due by August 2

We ask families to help us as we prepare for the 2019-20 school year. On Monday, July 8, the primary parental contact for each new and returning student will receive an email with required back-to-school forms that are to be completed each year – and this year are due by Friday, August 2. Families with more than one child enrolled at DeLaSalle will receive an individual email for each one. Thank you in advance for completing the forms in a timely manner.

The back-to-school email will also include important information about required school orientations for new and returning students. Families of returning students will be able to sign up for an orientation on either Wednesday, August 14 or Wednesday, August 21. New Student Orientation for all ninth grade and new transfer students will be held on Thursday, August 22, and new families are invited back to DeLaSalle for New Family Orientation the evening of August 22.

School Uniform Orders Due July 12

Families who need to order new school uniform apparel for their student should place their orders by Friday, July 12, to ensure timely delivery by the start of the school year. You may place orders online through the DeLaSalle School Store.

Summer Coursework Required for Honors, AP Students

Students registered for some honors or Advanced Placement courses in 2019-20 are required to complete coursework before the new school year begins on Monday, August 26. The assigned coursework is available here.

Work Service – How to Fulfill Your Hours

As a reminder, all students who received need-based financial aid for the 2018-19 school year must complete ten hours of work service before June 30. Students who receive need-based financial aid for 2019-20 may begin completing their work service obligation now. Please contact the school at 612-676-7600 to schedule work service hours. Weekday shifts are available between 9:30am-3:00pm.

You’re Invited to Black and Gold Weekend!

Help us celebrate the rich tradition and legacy of DeLaSalle at our Black and Gold Weekend August 8-10! Because this is an opportunity for all Islanders to participate – we have changed the name from Alumni Weekend to Black and Gold Weekend. Join us Thursday, August 8 as we induct the 2019 Hall of Fame class – those individuals who have made a significant impact on the school and its legacy. Grab your golf clubs and join us on the links on Friday, August 9 for our Alumni, Parents, and Friends Golf Tournament. Or bring the family and show off your power serve or learn a new game entirely at our third annual Tennis and Pickleball Mixer on Saturday, August 10. Several alumni classes will celebrate their reunion that same weekend. Learn more and register here.

Students Invited to Apply for Spring Break 2020 Jamaica Immersion Trip

DeLaSalle will sponsor a service immersion trip to the Diocese of Mandeville in Jamaica over spring break this coming school year. Students will live in community in a simple and safe setting and participate in daily service, prayer, and reflection. Students will be challenged to explore and discuss a variety of social justice, economic, religious and human rights issues. Learn more here about student eligibility and the trip cost and express interest.

Islanders Are Everywhere This Summer

  • Congratulations to Calvin Mattson ‘20 and An Nguyen-Trinh ‘20, who competed at the National History Day competition this month at the University of Maryland. Neither Calvin nor An placed at nationals, but each earned a trip to the competition by winning first place at state in their respective categories.

  • Nineteen students are currently in Costa Rica, learning about indigenous populations and the country’s most diverse ecosystem during the Global Advantage Program’s “Biological and Cultural Studies” course. Led by DeLaSalle faculty Mary Lenz (Science), Lucienne Nagel (Modern Languages), and Paul Sczepanski (Social Studies), the class arrived in San Jose on June 16 and returns to the Twin Cities June 26.

  • Two dozen DeLaSalle students participated this week in the Lasallian Youth Assembly in Chicago – the largest group of any school participating from the Midwest District of Christian Brothers. Students partnered with peers from other Lasallian schools to perform service and learn more about social justice and Catholic social teaching during the weeklong experience.

  • Lasallian Ministry reports the first summer service days cohort June 3-5 was a huge success. Students performed service at a variety of local organizations over three days, including packing more than 10,000 pounds of food at Second Harvest Heartland, planted vegetable gardens at Open Arms of Minnesota, and served meals at the House of Charity, among other projects. The next summer service days cohort is August 6-8.
