DeLaSalle Concludes 2018-19 School Year
Congratulations to all students and families who have reached the end of the 2018-19 school year. This past year offered us regular opportunities to celebrate the many accomplishments of students, staff, alumni, parents, and supporters of De. Even though work has already begun for the 2019-20 school year, the following weeks of summer vacation provide that needed break for students and families to relax before a new year of learning gets underway.
Updating the Search for the Next DeLaSalle President

Dear DeLaSalle Community,

As was announced in March, Barry Lieske will be retiring as president of DeLaSalle in June 2020, after what will be 41 years of dedicated service to the school.

To ensure a smooth leadership transition, the Board of Trustees, which has the responsibility under the school’s by-laws to select a new president, has hired an executive search firm, CohenTaylor, experts in non-profit recruiting, to guide the search process. As a first step, CohenTaylor has gathered input from more than 250 community members — staff, faculty, alums, donors, parents, Trustees, and students – to develop a thorough assessment of the most important qualifications our community is seeking in the new president.

The Board has also appointed a search committee with diverse perspectives, comprised of alumni, a current parent, and parents of graduates as well as representatives from the Christian Brothers and the Archdiocese. This summer, the search committee will develop a job description that reflects the community’s recommendations. In September, CohenTaylor will begin a national search, identifying candidates from diverse backgrounds to bring forward for interviews. Questions regarding the search process should be directed to Katie Erickson ( or 612-354-5764).

The Board expects to name a new president in early 2020. We will provide periodic updates to the community as the process moves forward.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees,

Tim Dolan ‘73
