Admissions Office Hosts Welcome Party, Parent Meet and Greet this Saturday for Class of 2023

DeLaSalle invites students enrolled in the Class of 2023 and their parents to join us for a Welcome Party this Saturday, May 11 at 7:00pm. Students will dance to a DJ, participate in games and group activities where you will meet new kids, or just enjoy the atmosphere of your new school. Admission is free – and we’ll have pizza and pop for everybody. By the end of the night, you’ll have a lot of new friends! Parents, we don’t want you to miss out on the fun either. While your child is having fun meeting his or her new classmates, you can meet other parents during the “Meet and Greet with Treats” for parents of the Class of 2023. Current parents and some graduating seniors will serve as hosts and share good conversation about DeLaSalle from a parent’s or student’s view. This event is hosted by the DeLaSalle Parent Association and has been extremely valuable for new parents to DeLaSalle. If you haven’t already RSVP’d, please look for an email that was sent from the Admissions Office with the link to respond or call 612-676-7665.

Islander Community to Honor Seniors at End of Year Convocation

DeLaSalle will host an end of year convocation Monday, May 13 to honor the student recipients of the DeLaSalle Award and Islander Award, the most prestigious awards earned by graduating seniors. These awards recognize significant and broad contributions to the community and school’s legacy in areas of exemplary performance, personal character, and service to school and community. The school will also receive a small bone chip of Saint John Baptist de La Salle as part of a pilgrimage that the first-class relic is making to Lasallian schools and ministries throughout the Midwest District of Christian Brothers. The convocation will be followed by a Pepfest recognizing spring sports athletes and activity program participants.

Advanced Placement Exams Continue Next Week

Advanced Placement exams, which offer DeLaSalle students the opportunity to earn college credit by showing their mastery of college-level material, continue the week of May 13. DeLaSalle has already held nine AP exams; remaining exams are scheduled May 13-15 in Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, and English Language. The exam schedule is available here.

Students who missed their AP test due to emergency circumstances, unforeseen circumstances or school related activities may be able to take their exam in the late testing period. These students should check with Ms. Stacey Carter in the Guidance office (B102) to order their late AP exam before 12:00pm on Thursday, May 16.

Seniors to Take Final Exams May 16-17

Seniors will take final exams on Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17, and be released from school after finals. Exams will be held in periods 1, 2, 3, and 4 on Thursday and in periods 5, 6, 7, and 8 on Friday. Students are excused from the first four class periods on Friday.

Student Council Presents “DeChella” May 17

The event includes a talent show at 5:00pm on a stage by the firepit in Christian Brothers’ Plaza. DeChella also features a dunk tank and 9 square in the sky, as well as other yard and carnival games on the Athletic Field. There will be a movie at 7:30pm in LL Gray Gym and a bonfire on the plaza. The Parent Association will grill and have hot dogs and other food available for purchase.

Students May Purchase Their iPad from DeLaSalle

This summer DeLaSalle will refresh the devices for its IslePad one-to-one program with the purchase of new iPads.  Based on feedback from students and faculty, the new devices will include a keyboard with a rugged case. As part of this transition, DeLaSalle is offering students the opportunity to purchase their current iPad Air for $100.00 from May 3rd through May 17th.  This purchase price includes the case and charger that is currently assigned to the student. Please find the iPad Purchase Form here.

Devices that are not purchased will need to be returned on the last day of classes.  Charges will be incurred for any damage to the device or charger.
