DeLaSalle congratulates Muriel Ambrus ‘19, who has been selected as the school’s recipient of the Athena Award. She will be recognized at a luncheon May 3. The Athena Award is given annually to one senior female athlete in each Twin Cities high school and is based on excellence in individual sports or for participation and accomplishments in team sports.
Muriel is a four-year letter winner in both cross country and track & field. She is a member of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society, has received Academic All-State honors, is a student on the High Honor Roll, and recently was named a Distinguished Scholar in the Class of 2019, having earned that distinction for achieving a 4.0 cumulative grade point average through the first semester of her senior year.
Muriel has been a captain of the DeLaSalle track and field team for two seasons, including in this, her senior year. Muriel earned All Conference honorable mention her freshman year, All Conference her sophomore year, and All Conference honorable mention her junior year. She won the 4×100 section championship her sophomore year and competed in the state tournament that same season. Her 4×100 relay team holds the school record.
In cross county, Muriel was a team captain this past season. She earned All Conference honorable mention her freshman year and All Conference her sophomore year.
Muriel will attend Macalester College this fall.
