The Lasallian spirit is alive and well at DeLaSalle, as we celebrated educational excellence at our annual Founder’s Day Mass on April 24. Additionally, twelve juniors were awarded Alumni Association scholarships for their senior year at DeLaSalle. Continue reading

Parents in Prayer Holds Last Meeting of School Year Monday

Each month, a group of DeLaSalle parents and family members gather on campus to lift up our community in prayer. The Parents in Prayer group will meet for the last time this school year on Monday, April 29, from 12:00-1:00pm in the creative side of the Thies Lab (D207). All parents, family members, friends, and alumni are welcome to participate. We hope students, staff, families and friends at DeLaSalle will feel encouraged by the knowledge that people care about them, are excited for them and are PRAYING FOR THEM! You may submit prayer requests, which may remain anonymous, to prayer boxes located in the main office, Lasallian Ministry, or Theology classrooms.

DeLaSalle Celebrates National College Decision Day Wednesday

DeLaSalle will celebrate seniors and their postsecondary plans on National College Decision Day Wednesday, May 1. Seniors may wear a top representing their college or postsecondary decisions. During lunches Wednesday, seniors may sign a Class of 2019 poster and enter a raffle to win a prize!

DeLaSalle Hosts Starry Night Prom May 4; Parent Volunteers Still Needed

Starry Night Prom, a prom for people with disabilities and the largest student service project at DeLaSalle, will take place at the school the evening of Saturday, May 4. Students have been training and preparing for weeks for the 19th annual event. Parent chaperones are still needed to volunteer for full or half shifts between 5:30-10:00pm. Please contact Nicole Stecklein at 612-676-7608 if you can help. A special thank you to all who participated in a fundraiser for the event April 23 at the Chipotle on East Hennepin Avenue by DeLaSalle. The restaurant donated more than $400 to the event, or a third of the sales it generated from dinner that evening.

Families of Returning Students: Please Make Your 2019-20 Transportation Requests

Thank you to the many returning families who have made their 2019-20 transportation requests. DeLaSalle emailed the primary contact in each family March 29 with a transportation request form to indicate their transportation preferences for the next school year. Registered incoming ninth grade students  already made their transportation requests at the time they registered.

Limited Spaces Available for Summer Service Days

Lasallian Ministry invites current ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade students to serve and learn at local Twin Cities service organizations this summer. Students who sign up must be present all three days of the service cohort. Students will break into groups and serve at various sites including Sharing & Caring Hands, Open Arms, Crisis Nursery, Second Harvest, Benedictine Health Center, House of Charity and more. Projects include preparing and serving meals to the homeless, playing with kids at Crisis Nursery, packaging food for distribution, connecting with the elderly, hosting bingo for adults with developmental disabilities, and more. 20 Christian Service Hours will be earned over the course of three days. Advanced Placement Exams

Beginning Monday, May 6

DeLaSalle students have the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school when they take Advanced Placement exams in May. Students may earn college credit depending on the results of their exams, which measure how well they have mastered college-level coursework. The exam schedule is available here. Please pay attention to specific notes about start and end times for some exams.

Welcome Party, Parent Meet and Greet for the Class of 2023

Saturday, May 11

DeLaSalle invites students enrolled in the Class of 2023 and their parents to join us for a Welcome Party. Students will dance to a DJ, participate in Mardi Gras games and group activities where they will meet new kids, or just enjoy the atmosphere of your new school. Admission is free – and we’ll have pizza and pop for everybody. By the end of the night, you’ll have a lot of new friends! Parents, we don’t want you to miss out on the fun either. While your child is having fun meeting his or her new classmates, you can meet other parents during the “Meet and Greet with Treats” for parents of the Class of 2023. Current parents and some graduating seniors will serve as hosts and share good conversation about DeLaSalle from a parent’s or student’s view. This event is hosted by the DeLaSalle Parent Association and has been extremely valuable for new parents to DeLaSalle. Please watch your email inbox for a party invitation and more details.

Senior Final Exams

Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17

Seniors will take final exams on Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17, and be released from school after finals, assuming there are no missed or unscheduled days off in the last semester. Exams will be held in periods 1, 2, 3, and 4 on Thursday and in periods 5, 6, 7, and 8 on Friday. Students are excused from the first four class periods on Friday.

Students, Families Invited to Share Feedback in Activities Evaluation

The Student Activities office invites students and families who participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities at DeLaSalle to share their feedback via a program evaluation. Some of you may have already taken the survey this year. If you would be so kind to complete it once more, that would be greatly appreciated. This way we can make sure we have gathered all the necessary information in order to continue to provide quality activity programs at DeLaSalle.
