Tuesday, April 16, 2019 (opens in a new window)

Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

Lord, help me not to lean on my own understanding but in everything acknowledge You so that You can direct my words, thoughts and actions. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

In today’s news…

Students will meet with their academic mentor to discuss their second semester academic progress. The meetings will occur today after first period.

Holy Week, one of the most sacred weeks of the Church year, has begun. The statues in our school chapel may be covered as we focus on the death and Resurrection of Jesus, but our hearts remain open. Join Lasallian Ministry and Father Bruno for Mass on Tuesday at 8:00am in the chapel as we walk with Jesus. Mass will be done by 8:20am, providing students enough time to get to their first hour class. The chapel is located in Christian Brothers Hall above the Lasallian Ministry office.

Tuesday morning chapel Masses will also be offered on April 23 and 30 at 8:00am.

The Library will be closed during the school day Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, because ninth grade English classes will be working on a project. This means that students who are in class, study hall, or lunch may not get a pass to the library. The library will reopen for its normal after school hours.

All seniors will participate in a full day class retreat on Wednesday, April 17. Organized by Lasallian Ministry, the retreat helps students gain healthy closure on their high school years. Students should check in to their first hour class for attendance and then go to the Florance Center to board buses for the off-campus retreat location. Students should wear their school uniform and bring a bag lunch. Please contact Peg Hodapp with questions.

Those interested in running for Student Council Executive Board will need to get an Application Form from Mr. Sczepanski or the Main Office. Each position has its unique form and these forms will be available starting Thursday, April 18th. The Executive Board positions are the following: President & Vice President(These two people run together and must have at least one year of Student Council experience at DeLaSalle.), Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer. The application forms are due to Mr. Sczepanski by 3:15pm on Thursday, April 25th. Please see Mr. Sczepanski or Mr. Glanville if you have any questions.

Join the Political Affairs club! We offer a safe environment for students to exchange opinions and dialogue with each other about a range of current events and topics. The club meets Thursdays from 3:15-4:15pm in the Thies Lab. All are welcome.

DeLaSalle students and families can get a comprehensive guide for the entire college search process, from researching and visiting schools to narrowing down your favorites, during a free webinar hosted Tuesday, April 16 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. The webinar begins at 6:00pm. Register here. Get prepped on how to meet with admissions officers and hear tips for better testing, plus learn how to begin gathering recommendations.

It’s Prom season at DeLaSale – and this year’s Junior/Senior Prom will honor Prince with a “Purple Reign” theme. The Prom is Saturday, April 27, from 7:30pm-12:00am, at the Nicollet Island Pavilion. A Grand March will be held in the Florance Center at 6:30pm. Individual tickets cost $75 before Wednesday, April 17, or $85 after that date, and must be purchased by the end of the day on Wednesday, April 24. Tickets include a buffet dinner at the Pavilion. DeLaSalle parents are gathering together to celebrate our terrific school staff on Thursday, April 25 – but they need your help! Organizers are planning a warm welcome and continental breakfast as staff arrive for the school day, followed by a catered lunch.  Plans also include a thank you gift for each staff member. Parents, we need your help with set-up, greeting, food service and clean-up, and most importantly, food and beverage donations. TO VOLUNTEER AND/OR DONATE, click here to access a SignUpGenius form where you can indicate how you may wish to participate in the day. Please contact Laura Paine with questions at 612-865-6396. If you prefer to make a cash donation toward the cost of meals and treats for the staff, please send your donation to Parent Association staff liaison, Mike O’Keefe, at DeLaSalle.
