Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

Dear Father in heaven, we ask You from our hearts to give us Your peace. Grant that nothing may take Your peace from us, and protect us from all that is evil. Keep us under Your protection, as You have always done. We praise and thank You for all that comes to our hearts from You, making us full of trust and certain of Your further help. Amen

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

In today’s news…

This week, our school community is commemorating our annual Social Justice Week.  Our theme this year is Immigration: Seeing God Through Every Person. The activities this week will explore our role in society and our call to treat all people with dignity and respect. The activities and programs planned this week are based on the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, and additional resources about this topic can be found on the website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

  • Grade 9 Theology classes will be working with Dr. Deborah Organ, a professor of clinical social work and theology at both Saint Catherine’s University and Saint Thomas who has worked with native Spanish speakers for over 30 years. She is the mother of several DeLaSalle alumni.
  • Grade 10 Theology classes will learn about the role Incarnation Catholic Church, one of the sponsoring parishes of Risen Christ School, has in the Latino community in Minneapolis. Father Kevin McDonough, Deacon Carl and Gretchen Valdez, and Sister Margaret McGuirk will be sharing their stories with students.
  • Grade 11 English classes will have a presenter from The Move, an organization that specializes in racial equity work.
  • Grade 12 English classes will be learning about the history of immigration in the United States from Akemi Mechtel, a graduate student in public policy at the U of M and member of the team at Breakthrough Twin Cities.

During the last 20 minutes of lunch time today, students who stop by the supervisors table to pick up a pass may come to the gym to play badminton. It will be limited to 20 students per lunch period.

All are welcome to come to our lunchtime LEAP meeting where we welcome Greg Eaton from Friends of Dorothy Day Catholic Worker as part of our Social Justice Week activities. Bring your lunch to the Theis Lab Creative side.

Please join us tonight from 3:15-5:00pm in the Thies Lab to share, listen and celebrate the beauty of creative expression as we close out Social Justice Week together. The event is hosted by The Move and Diana Truong (’20) to celebrate poetry, prose and writing at DeLaSalle. Bring friends and your own writing to share.
