“Islanders Are Everywhere” is more than a catchphrase printed on yard signs that adorn the Twin Cities. The slogan perfectly captures the broad reach of DeLaSalle – with hundreds of alumni, friends, alumni parents, foundations, benefactors, and other De community members who reside at addresses near and far, across the United States and beyond. Collectively, this community provides financial support each year to current students, parents, and staff. While tuition revenue remains the largest line item in the school’s operating budget,(for which we are grateful for our educational partnership with current parents), the annual gifts of our broader community sustain our 119-year commitment to financial aid and scholarships for deserving students and their families.
Members of the DeLaSalle Advancement Office will join president, Barry Lieske, in annual visits with alumni and friends in Arizona and Florida in coming weeks. These outreach efforts give us a chance to thank our supporters and share the good news of DeLaSalle, a story that still resonates for multiple generations. Each year, many alums and friends visit the school or attend school events. And each year, the DeLaSalle Office of Advancement travels to meet with alumni and friends as a sign of appreciation for their ongoing support. Advancement staff have the opportunity to update and thank our supporters, and attendees to those events find ways to support the school’s longevity and vitality.
DeLaSalle has two events scheduled with alumni and friends in Arizona. Joe Duffy ‘67 and his wife, Patsy, will graciously host Islanders for a social at their Scottsdale area home on Wednesday, February 27. Two days later, on Friday, March 1, Islanders in the Tucson area are invited to a luncheon at Vivace Restaurant at 11:30am. You may RSVP for either event by contacting Veronica Rucker at 612-676-7687.
Two weeks later, DeLaSalle staff will visit with alumni and friends in Florida. We invite Islanders to join us for a luncheon at The Club at Barefoot Beach in Naples on Wednesday, March 13 at 11:30am. Please RSVP your attendance to Veronica Rucker at 612-676-7687.
DeLaSalle remains so appreciative of the support that comes from so many sources. The school and its mission remain so much bigger than any one person or group of people, but the strength of so many helping hands is powerful and educational to our current students. The commitment to support is being passed from one generation to the next. Islanders are indeed everywhere! What a wonderful story to share.
