In today’s news…

Thank you for helping to share the good news about DeLaSalle with your family and friends this Christmas season. What an exciting time for De! We invite prospective students and their families to join us at our winter Open House to learn more about DeLaSalle’s mission and vision and hear from teachers in each department about our college preparatory curriculum. You can also learn about our Catholic, Lasallian heritage, student activities, financial aid, and more.

On Wednesday, January 16, DeLaSalle hosts its first Open House for prospective students and their parents.  Many current students first visited De at an Open House in previous years.  Because we will need to set up for the Open House and clean the entire campus earlier in the afternoon, we ask that all students not involved in work service or a previously scheduled, after school activity please leave campus immediately after school on Wednesday.  The Library, D-104, and the entire B building will be closed at 3:15 p.m on Wednesday. Thank you for understanding this request and making plans now to go home immediately after school on the 16th.

DeLaSalle will hold an online learning day on Thursday, January 17 for students as faculty and staff also participate in professional development. Students will not report to school for classes, but will complete their assignments and coursework online. Faculty will publish their class assignments by 9:00am and will be available at times throughout the day to remotely work with students.

The ENTIRE membership of our chapter of National Honor Society will meet a few times this semester, and our first meeting is Wednesday, January 16. To accommodate our members’ schedules, the officers and moderators will be conducting several meeting times throughout the day.

Every member must attend one of the following meeting times:

  • 7:45-8:15 a.m., Theis Creative
  • All lunch periods, Theis Creative
  • 3:15-3:45 p.m. , Room B211

A reminder that students in Dr. Zimmerman’s Life Skills group will meet during all lunches today in Ms. Megan’s room (B110).

DeLaSalle Theatre is looking to add a few more cast members to the spring musical, Newsies!

Come on out January 24th, at 3pm in room D117. We will dance, sing and read from provided sides. We’re looking to fill 5 roles, 3 guys and 2 gals. 2 roles are speaking roles only, no signing or dancing required. All students, regardless of experience and skill levels, are encouraged to audition.

If you have questions, please email Mr. Buffington at jbuffington@delasalle.com

Juniors who plan to take the April 13 ACT exam may now register for a prep class that will help prepare them for the test. Classes are Mondays, starting February 25. The 3:15-5:15pm class time has filled but space is still available in the 5:30-7:30pm class. The class costs $225; students who qualify for free and reduced lunch will pay $50. Click here for more information. You may click here to register. Please contact Mary Ann Dorsher with questions.

Please look over this form for two scholarships that we would like students to be aware of. The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation and the Wallin Education Partners have partnered with DeLaSalle to provide opportunities to help students finance their college education.

All juniors are invited to apply for DeLaSalle’s Alumni Scholarships. There are four different scholarships awarded with amounts ranging from $250-$1000 to be used for your senior year at De. The link to apply was sent to all juniors on Monday Jan 14. The deadline for applications is Feb. 25, 2019.

This week, during all lunch periods, sign-up forms for 2nd Semester MACRS will be circulating. Please make sure to write your name on a form, if you wish to play during the second half of the season. We will be reading Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk.
