Students: Please make sure you are checking into the main office or the nurse’s office if you do not feel well during the school day. It is imperative that a school staff member contact your parent or guardian when you are sick. Any student who contacts their parent or guardian without checking in the at the main office first may be subject to disciplinary action including but not limited to a Personal Electronics violation or Insubordination.

The Technovation – Coding Team will meet every week on Wednesday from 3:10-4:00pm in room A213. If you would like to join the team, feel free to come by or speak to Mr. Pearson or Ms. Roggow.

The Robotics Team will meet every week on Wednesday from 3:00-4:00pm in room B314. If you would like to join the team, feel free to come by or speak to Mr. Banas.

Come join us for “Tsuro of the Seas” after school on Thursday, in room B307. Sail your ship through dragon-infested waters and find your path where others crash or are eaten. New players always welcome. See Mr. Newman or Mr. Banas with any questions.

In preparation for the upcoming one-act and musical auditions, DeLaSalle Theatre will hold a theatre information meeting on Tuesday, November 20, from 3:30pm – 4:30pm in D117. We’ll cover the audition process, tech crew sign-up and all the ways you can get involved. We want to get everyone up to speed before we begin the next round of shows. All are welcome. Please bring your questions.

Auditions for our Winter One-Acts and our Spring Musical, Newsies, are the week of November 26*. Tuesday, November 27 is the singing audition. Wednesday, November 28, is the dance audition. Thursday, November 29, is the reading audition. Call backs will be November, 30, as needed.
*We have a theatre information meeting on Tuesday, November 20th, from 3:30pm – 4:30pm to get everyone up to speed before auditions.

All students and staff are invited to join Lasallian Ministry for Mass every Tuesday at 3:15pm in the chapel in Christian Brothers Hall, located near the Lasallian Ministry office.

The Darst Center Urban Immersion is a workshop retreat that serves as a tool to explore issues of justice and the reality of oppression. Through partnerships with local agencies, retreat participants get to know people served by these agencies, challenge stereotypes, confront fears, and break down barriers. Daily communal prayer, meal preparation, recreational and educational sessions are designed to reflect on the work and observations conducted at agencies. Examples of social agencies that will be used as the sites for the field experiences include, The Chicago Food Depository, Su Casa, The Port, San Miguel Schools, Chicago Youth Centers, St. Martin DePorres. The retreat will take place at the Darst Center in Chicago, IL from January 25-27, 2018.

Participants will be awarded 20 Christian Service hours upon completion of the retreat. The cost of the retreat is $250. A $50 deposit is required to reserve your spot and final $200 payment will be due by January 11, 2019. See Ms. Stecklein if the cost is prohibitive. Space is limited. All current 10th and 11th grade students are eligible to apply for this summer’s Global Advantage Program (GAP) trip to the diverse country of Costa Rica. This academic trip will focus on Biological and Cultural Studies and take place from June 16 to June 26, 2019. Students will be led by DeLaSalle staff members Mr. Paul Sczepanski, Ms. Mary Lenz, and Ms. Lucienne Nagel. Please read the Costa Rica-2019 Travel Brochure for more specific details and contact Mr. Sczepanski, if you have any questions regarding this learning opportunity. Your first step in the application process would be to respond to the email you received that includes a link to an online application and complete it. Applications and recommendations are due by Friday, November 23, 2018. Please note that this trip is limited to a maximum of 22 students plus the 3 DeLaSalle teachers/chaperones.

DeLaSalle Theatre presents its fall musical “Evita” with six shows over the next two weekends. The production is based on the historical story of María Eva Duarte de Perón, a poor Argentinian girl who grows up to be the wife of the president of Argentina, worshipped by her people. As First Lady of Argentina, she aligns herself with the poor, winning herself, and Perón, popularity among Argentinians. Evita becomes a hero to the poor and the working class—and an enemy to the rich. A young and unknown revolutionary, Ché, narrates the rise and fall of the beloved matriarch of the Argentinian people.

Performances are November 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17 at 7:30pm and November 11 at 4:00pm in the Florance Center. Tickets are $15 for reserved seats, $10 for general admission; $8 for non-DeLaSalle students and seniors; and free for DeLaSalle students with school ID. Purchase your reserved tickets here.
