Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

Dear God, thank you for the example of the Saints. Please help me follow their footsteps, and yours, Jesus Christ. Please help me to conform myself to Your image, seeking Your will in all things, as the Saints once did. Please help me to devote myself, and all that I do, to Your glory, and to the service of my neighbors. Amen.

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

In today’s news…

DeLaSalle will observe the feast of All Saints’ Day with a school Mass today, following the first period class, in the Florance Center. School chaplain, Fr. Bruno Nwachukwu, will celebrate the Mass. The Mass will incorporate a traditional Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) ritual, as Lasallian Ministry has invited students and community members to bring a framed photo of a loved one who has passed away to be included in an ofrenda table. After the Mass, the photos will be moved to the display case on the second floor of the B building for the month of November. Students in Art and Spanish classes will also contribute to the Mass by providing colorful Dia de Los Muertos decorations in the Florance Center.

Attention Students: Give back to your school community by participating in DeLaSalle’s Day of Giving. Helping the school raise money for student scholarships, campus projects, and school programs is an important part of being an Islander. You may donate online or bring your money into school. There will be tables and donation boxes set up inside both entrances on Thursday. If students can raise at least $500, then EVERYONE will get a free dessert on Friday! Bring $1 or bring $10. Every dollar helps and brings us closer to ice cream cookie sandwiches!

DeLaSalle will operate a fan bus to the volleyball section semifinal tonight at Watertown-Mayer. The bus will leave from the front of DeLaSalle at 5:45pm and return after the game. The bus is available on a first come, first served basis. Go Islanders!

Our wrestling head coach Ernie McNeal will be at lunches today to meet with potential wrestlers. Feel free to stop by and ask any questions on Islander wrestling!

Want to join a fun winter activity? Audition for Speech today after school in the Schulz Lab (North side, by the blue wall). Bring something to read/perform, or use one of ours! First come first served. Questions? Email Coach James at jarroyo-miller@apps.delasalle.com or Coach Schu at jschumacher@apps.delasalle.com

The TTGC will be playing Forbidden Island today in B307. Come join a team to salvage valuable treasures in this cooperative game. See Mr. Newman or Mr. Banas with questions.

The Inklings book club will resume our every-other-week meeting schedule starting this Friday, November 2. The club meets in Mrs. Wojda’s room (B211) and this Friday will be a short informational meeting from 3:10 to 3:30 p.m. At this meeting, we will confirm what books we will be reading this year, get each other’s contact information, and have refreshments. (No Inklings meeting would be complete without food!) In the past, we have read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Chronicles of Narnia. Questions? Ask the moderators: Mrs. Arens, Mr. John, Mr. Newman or Mrs. Wojda.

If you are interested in Law and would like an opportunity to work at a Law firm as an Intern after school, please contact Mr. Hallman right away. The internship starts now and would last throughout the school year.

All students need to clean out their athletic lockers (unless their fall sport is still in season for playoffs) by Friday, November 2. Students need to clean out their locker, even if they intend on participating in a winter sport.

Yearbooks are now on sale for the 2018-2019 school year. You can order online at www.balfour.com or pick up an order form in the Main Office or outside the IT Office.

If you are looking for a way to publicly recognize or pay tribute to your senior, putting a Parent Senior Ad in the yearbook is a great way to do it. The Senior Ads are a huge part of the yearbook that students turn to right away when they receive their book. There are two ways to order the ads:

You may design the ads yourself or have the yearbook staff design them. Please send photos and text you may want in your ad to yearbook@delasalle.com and a proof will be emailed to you to approve.

Parent Senior Ads are due by November 30. Any order received after November 30th will be accepted based on availability and subject to a 10% late fee.
