Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

Loving and merciful God, You filled St. Vincent de Paul with the strength and courage to care for the needs of the poor and the instruction of priests. May we who follow the example of his life also find the strength to continue the mission of Jesus and your Church in the world.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

In today’s news…

Homecoming is a chance for us to celebrate our tradition and history at DeLaSalle and acknowledge the thousands of alumni who have come before us.

  • Today’s Out of Uniform: Look Alike Day
Dress to look like your friend, a teacher, or even a celebrity!
  • Tomorrow’s Islander Day
Show off that Islander pride! Students may wear any DeLaSalle apparel, black and gold/yellow, or Hawaiian shirts and shorts. You may also want to wear your brand-new Homecoming T-shirt.

Click here to find more Homecoming Week information.

Come enjoy the outdoors with Science Club today in room B309 from 3:10 to 4:00pm.

Due to homecoming festivities, there will be no LEAP meeting this week. LEAP (Lasallians for Equity and Peace) will resume on Friday, October 12.

The last day to turn in your contract and money for NAHS is Friday, September 28.

Student Council has planned a full roster of fun Homecoming activities after school and invites students to stay, meet friends, and build community.

  • DeLaPalooza (3:00-5:30pm): Students are invited to participate in games, food and fun! (Students, please gather your belongings from your school locker because you will not be able to get them after 5:30pm).
  • Powderpuff Football (5:30-7:30pm); Watch as the junior girls take on the senior girls in the annual powderpuff football game on the Athletic Field.
  • Outdoor Movie & Bonfire (5:00-9:30pm): Come warm up by the bonfire on Brothers’ Plaza and enjoy s’mores and treats served by the DeLaSalle Parent Association. We will light the fire much earlier than anticipated, at 5:00pm, and the fire will continue through the end of the evening. Students can also watch an outdoor movie on the Athletic Field with friends. Dress warm – it could be a chilly night.

The school building will be closed on Friday at 5:30pm. Students will need to bring their belongings with them, as they will not be able to access their locker after that time.

On Friday, the DeLaSalle community is invited to buy a donut before school for $2 in a fundraiser that supports the boys’ soccer program.

Show your team spirit by joining us for a fundraiser to support DeLaSalle Softball. Come in to the Chipotle by campus on 225 Hennepin Ave East in Minneapolis on Saturday, September 29th after the Homecoming football game between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. Bring this flyer, show it on your phone or tell the cashier you are supporting DeLaSalle.

Get all dressed up for our semi-formal Homecoming Dance this Saturday from 7:30-11:00pm in the Florance Center. Bring a date or come with friends for a night of dancing. Tickets sold at the door: $8 ($6 if you bring a canned good). Each DeLaSalle student may bring one guest to a school-sponsored dance. The host or guest student must pick up a Dance Guest Registration form from the Attendance Office and have it completed by the guest and faxed back to the DeLaSalle’s Student Activities Office at least one day prior to the date of the dance. The DeLaSalle student and guest must arrive together. The guest must present a picture ID. Prior to the dance, guests will be presented with guidelines and rules for DeLaSalle dances. With their signature, guests will confirm their understanding of the rules and give DeLaSalle school contact information to a parent or guardian. All guests are subject to the same rules as DeLaSalle students. If the rules are not followed the guest will be asked to leave.

Students must bring their Student I.D. to make entering the dance a speedy process. Please remember to bring your Student I.D. to the Homecoming Dance.

The Parent Association once again will sponsor De “Parents in Prayer,” a group of DeLaSalle parents and family members who will gather on campus once a month to lift up our community in prayer. Please join us at our first gathering of the school year. We will meet Friday, September 28 from 12:30-1:30pm in the creative side of the Thies Lab (D207). Come during your lunch hour if you can make it. We hope students, staff, families and friends at DeLaSalle will feel encouraged by the knowledge that people care about them, are excited for them and are PRAYING FOR THEM! All parents, family members, friends, and alumni are welcome to participate.

Families must apply each year for their child to be considered for free and reduced lunch benefits. The application is available here. Students who were approved for benefits at DeLaSalle in 2017-18 will have a carryover until October 1. Students without an approved 2018-19 application on file by October 1 will pay full price for food items.

In addition to all-school liturgies, students in each grade will gather as a class this fall to celebrate Mass. School chaplain, Fr. Bruno Nwachukwu, will celebrate each Mass at nearby Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Class Masses occur for 9th grade on October 2. Students should report to their first hour class and then will dismiss to the Florance Center for a grade level meeting before departing for Mass.
