Homecoming Week Celebrates “Strong alone. Stronger together.”

DeLaSalle students, parents, alumni and friends are invited to celebrate Homecoming September 24-29. Students are allowed to dress out of uniform throughout the week:

  • Monday: Pajamas Day
  • Tuesday: Fan/Jersey Day
  • Wednesday: Class Color Day (9th – green; 10th – white; 11th – red; 12th – blue; staff – black)
  • Thursday: Look Alike Day
  • Friday: Islander Day

Student Council has planned an afternoon and evening full of activities after school on Friday, September 28. Following the Homecoming Pepfest at the end of the school day, which this year will include the Coronation ceremony, students can participate in DeLaPalooza, an event featuring games, a dunk tank, bounce house, food and more. The powderpuff football game between the junior and senior girls will be played at 5:30pm and a movie on the athletic field and bonfire on Brothers’ Plaza will cap the night. The festivities continue Saturday, September 29, with the Homecoming dance at 7:30pm. Continue reading

Picture Retake Day is Tuesday, September 25

Lifetouch photographers will be back on campus Tuesday, September 25 for students who wish to have their school photo retaken or who were absent on the first School Picture Day August 23. Because they may dress out of uniform for Homecoming on September 25, students are reminded to bring a school uniform shirt for the picture.

David Bank Studios Takes Senior Portraits at No Charge Wednesday, September 26

Photographers from David Bank Studios will be on campus to take senior portraits for free. All seniors must have a senior picture taken by David Bank Studios to be included in the 2018-19 yearbook and the class composite picture that hangs in the hallways of DeLaSalle. Students should bring a top to change into if they do not wish to wear their Out of Uniform top for the picture. Students who do not get their senior picture taken September 26 must get a senior picture taken at the studio by October 31. Please contact the Yearbook staff with questions.

De Parents in Prayer Gathers Friday, September 28

The Parent Association once again will sponsor De “Parents in Prayer,” a group of DeLaSalle parents and family members who will gather on campus once a month to lift up our community in prayer. Please join us at our first gathering of the school year. We will meet Friday, September 28 from 12:30-1:30pm in the creative side of the Thies Lab (D207). Come during your lunch hour if you can make it. We hope students, staff, families and friends at DeLaSalle will feel encouraged by the knowledge that people care about them, are excited for them and are PRAYING FOR THEM! All parents, family members, friends, and alumni are welcome to participate.

Around DeLaSalle

A DeLaSalle sophomore will use his lifelong passion for chess to teach other children the game when he travels to Nigeria later this year. Bolu Ilelaboye discovered on a trip to the country several years ago that children did not have good equipment to play the game and set out to buy new chess boards, pieces, clocks, and books. He has raised nearly $700, including proceeds from the dunk tank at the farewell bonfire last spring, to pay for two dozen chess boards and piece sets, eight clocks, and several books.
