All DeLaSalle parents are invited to the first meeting of the school year on Monday, September 10, from 6:30-8:00 pm, in Room D-104, the Richard M. Schulze Lab. The Schulze Lab is adjacent to the two main entries into the building.
In addition to social time and introductions, our guest speaker will be Mr. Brad Casey, Director of the Global Advantage Program at De. Casey will give an overview of the program, which includes academic trips, exchange programs, host family experiences, curriculum enhancements, and more. If your family has any interest in the program , we highly encourage you to attend.
By virtue of your enrollment at DeLaSalle, all parents are already a member of the Association, and we welcome your involvement and help. A special invitation is extended to parents who are new to DeLaSalle to join us on the 10th, as it was great to meet so many of you at the Parent Meet-and-Greet in May and/or at Back-to-School Night on August 29.
The Association, which meets formally on the second Monday of every month throughout the school year, also organizes several events to better connect parents with other parents for the benefit of the school and all students. The Parent Association is NOT a fundraising organization. This Monday, we will share a calendar of 2018-19 meetings, speakers and activities to come, and also field suggestions for topics important to parents.
The staff liaison is Mike O’Keefe, who also happens to be the parent of three De alums. If you have any questions about the meeting on the 10th or “Parents in Prayer” or “S’mores Mania” events on the 28th, please contact Mike at email@example.com. The treats will be good. The conversation will be better. Questions are anticipated. New ideas are always welcome. We hope to see you on Monday night!
“Parents in Prayer” Begins Again on September 28th
The Parent Association once again will sponsor De “Parents in Prayer,” a group of DeLaSalle parents and family members who will gather on campus once a month to lift up our community in prayer. We hope students, staff, families and friends at DeLaSalle will feel encouraged by the knowledge that people care about them, are excited for them and are PRAYING FOR THEM! All parents, family members, friends, and alumni are welcome to participate.
Parent Association co-chair, Jackie Schluter Johnson, will introduce more details for the 2018-19 Prayer series at Monday’s meeting.
“S’mores Mania” at the Homecoming Bonfire
The Association also sponsors a number of activities each year that benefit the school. The first such activity occurs on Friday, September 28th, when the Association will once again provide s’mores at the annual Homecoming Bonfire at De. The Parent Association has managed this project since 2002 – and the Student Council (which plans and manages the entirety of Homecoming Week) enthusiastically extends the invitation to the Parent Association to help once again. We will share more details about “S’mores Mania” and have a sign-up list available when the Association meets on Monday night.
