In today’s news…

Today, we will be joining together as a community for our first all school Mass of the Holy Spirit immediately following 1st period. This Mass is traditionally celebrated as a way to commence a new year together and ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our academics, co-curricular activities, and daily life. Fr. Bruno Nwachukwu, will be our celebrant.Students are asked to leave all personal items, including iPads, secured in their first hour classroom and move to the Florance Center to be seated with your class in a designated location. Please move quickly and quietly and move all the way into the row. No food, drink or gum is allowed during all school assemblies.

Learn about the many options for paying for college in the last of three highly informative college planning sessions offered by DeLaSalle college counselors. Financial Aid Planning Night is Monday, August 27, from 6:30-8:00pm in the Schulze Lab (D104). Take away tools include navigating the FAFSA; applying to colleges, researching scholarships, grants and loan options; completing college applications; and writing essays.

Solar panels and waste sorting and beehives, oh my!

The GREEN Team is seeking environmental superstars and supporters of all kinds t​o ​help make the world ​a more sustainable and vibrant place to live​. If you like working with others in the garden, the kitchen, the classroom, and the community to make our school and surroundings a better place, th​e​n look no further!

Our first meeting will be Tuesday, August 28th at 3:10PM in room B311 ​(and, if you miss that meeting, feel free to join us on any other Tuesday afternoon right after school in Mr. York’s room).​ ​ ​

​If you’re still not sure – we’re also a great option for those who enjoy delicious afternoon snacks, who are interested in field trips to cool places like aquaponics labs and bee labs, and/or who have great ideas on projects to make our school an even more fantastic place to be. Bring your ideas and friends to GREEN Team!​

On Wednesday, August 29, all students will meet with their academic mentor to check in and identify academic goals for the year. Students will also sign documents that help DeLaSalle receive assistance for textbooks and other academic support.

Please join us on Wednesday, August 29 from 6:00-8:45pm for Back-to-School Night to learn from teachers, mentors, and administrators of the academic expectations for each student this year. You will meet your child’s academic mentor and follow your child’s class schedule to learn about course goals, content, and assignments from your child’s teachers. And, if you have not already done so, don’t forget to pick up and display your free “Islanders Are Everywhere” yard sign. We look forward to seeing you!

A student or parent may deposit cash or check payment into a student’s cafeteria account in the Main Office at the school during normal business hours. If you are depositing money via check, please include the student’s last name and ID number in the check memo.

Brother Ryan will again this year be collection box tops for education, and in addition, he is collecting Pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House, and Pop cans to cash in to benefit Sharing and Caring Hands. If you have any of these items please consider placing them in the boxes at Bro Ryan’s classroom!
