DeLaSalle Hosts Starry Night Prom


DeLaSalle hosts the 18th annual Starry Night Prom for people with disabilities on Saturday, May 5, from 5:30-9:30pm. The event is the largest service learning project through DeLaSalle’s Lasallian Ministry program. Over 200 student volunteers will host over 1,200 guests with music, food, photos, and more. The event is free and open to the public.

Advanced Placement Exams Begin May 7

More students than ever before will take Advanced Placement (AP) exams over the next two weeks. Students can earn college credit depending on the results of their exams, which measure how well they have mastered college-level coursework. The exam schedule is available here. Please pay attention to specific notes about start and end times for some exams.

Four DeLaSalle Projects Advance to National History Day

Seven different DeLaSalle projects medaled at Minnesota History Day April 28, including four projects which have qualified to move on to National History Day at the University of Maryland in June:  Congratulations to all students who competed. Continue reading

Class of 2022 Honors Placement Exams May 5

DeLaSalle offers Honors Mastery Exams in Spanish, French, Mandarin, Geometry, Algebra II and Physical Science on Saturday, May 5. These exams are required for any student who wishes Honors or advanced course placement as a 9th grader.  All students may choose to take the exams simply to verify placement for fall. Each exam lasts up to 55 minutes. The language mastery exams will be offered at 9:00am, the science mastery exam at 10:00am, and the geometry mastery exam at 11:00am. Metro Transit Offers Unlimited Summer Bus Pass May 16

Metro Transit is offering a Student Summer Pass that provides students with unlimited rides on buses or light rail this summer. Passes are available for purchase starting on May 16, and are valid June 1-September 4 from 5:00am-10:00pm. It’s perfect for summer jobs, sports leagues and all the other fun that summer brings. Click here for more about how to buy a pass. All you need to purchase a pass is the school name (DeLaSalle) and the student ID. If you’d rather use cash, you can buy a Summer Student Pass at a Metro Transit Service Center. Call 612-373-3333 or visit for locations.

Welcome Party for Class of 2022

Saturday, May 12, 9:00am-12:00pm

DeLaSalle invites students enrolled in the Class of 2022 and their parents to join us for a Welcome Party. Students will dance to a DJ, participate in Mardi Gras games and group activities where they will meet new kids, or just enjoy the atmosphere of your new school. Admission is free – and we’ll have pizza and pop for everybody. By the end of the night, you’ll have a lot of new friends! Parents, we don’t want you to miss out on the fun either. While your child is having fun meeting his or her new classmates, you can meet other parents during the “Meet and Greet with Treats” for parents of the Class of 2022. Current parents and some graduating seniors will serve as hosts and share good conversation about DeLaSalle from a parent’s or student’s view. This event is hosted by the DeLaSalle Parent Association and has been extremely valuable for new parents to DeLaSalle. Please watch your email inbox for a party invitation and more details.

Founder’s Convocation & Prayer

Monday, May 14, 2:25pm

DeLaSalle will host an end of year prayer and convocation. In addition to a prayerful send off for the Class of 2018, there will be recognition to Giving Tree recipients, DeLaSalle and Islander Award winners (the highest awards given each year to graduating seniors), and an unveiling of the 2018-19 school year theme..

Nicollet Island Pavilion Overflow Parking Lot Unavailable

Tuesday, May 15

Students who park in the Nicollet Island Pavilion overflow parking lot (just south of the Hennepin Avenue bridge) should note the parking lot will be unavailable on Tuesday May 15 because the Nicollet Island Pavilion needs the parking for a scheduled event. Students are strongly encouraged to carpool, get a ride to and from school, or use public transportation on those dates. Thank you for your cooperation.

Senior Finals & iPad Return

May 17-18

Seniors will take final exams on May 17 and May 18, and be released from school after finals, assuming there are no missed or unscheduled days off in the last semester. Seniors will turn in their iPads after last exam on Friday. Students should remember to return their power adapter and sync cable – and remember to completely log out of iCloud.

Baccalaureate Mass

Wednesday, May 23, 6:30pm, Main Gym

All graduates and their families will join the school to celebrate and bless the end of high school years at the Baccalaureate Mass and Senior Recognition Ceremony. We welcome school chaplain, Father Joe Kuharski, as our Mass celebrant. The evening also includes the complete Senior Awards program and recognition of each senior, as well as a reception hosted by our Alumni Association. Seniors must line up in the Florance Center by 6:15pm, dressed in their “Sunday best” clothes.

Graduation for Class of 2018

Thursday, May 24, 6:45pm, Basilica of Saint Mary

Seniors must be present on the east side of the Basilica by 6:10pm. Commencement will begin promptly at 6:45pm. DeLaSalle welcomes Jeff Cavins, a dynamic public speaker and author, who created the popular Great Adventure Bible Study series, as our Commencement speaker. Seniors are required to attend graduation practice on Wednesday, May 23 at 9:00am at the Basilica of Saint Mary. The practice will last one-and-a-half to two hours and seniors will receive their cap, gown, and graduation tickets during the practice. DeLaSalle plans to live stream both the Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement.

Islanders Design and Present New Apps to Businesses, in Competition

Over the course of two weeks this month, two teams of Islanders are presenting apps they have designed to the broader tech and business communities. These apps could one day help keep teenagers across the world safe as they navigate the Internet. These nine students have created the Ello! and UnderStudy apps as part of Technovation[MN], an annual competition which enables teen girls to learn entrepreneurship skills and how to code mobile apps. The students will present their apps at Technovation’s Appapalooza on May 12 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Continue reading

Student Council Elections Underway

It’s election season at DeLaSalle as students elect their peers to leadership roles for the 2018-19 Student Council. Students voted for executive board positions May 4, including president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and public relations. Students have until May 8 to file nomination papers for class representative and elections will be held May 16.

Ansley Atkinson ’18 Earns Athena Award

An All-State girls’ soccer player and a Distinguished Scholar at DeLaSalle, Ansley Atkinson ’18, was recognized today (May 4) as DeLaSalle’s Athena Award winner at a luncheon with recipients from other schools. After School Snack Program Underway

DeLaSalle launched a program this week that provides a free healthy snack for students who participate in after school activities. Students who participate in after school tutoring, athletics, and activities qualify for the program and can pick up the healthy snack or purchase other items. The DeLaSalle Cafe will be open Mondays through Thursdays,  from 3:00-3:30pm.Students must enter their ID number to receive the snack or purchase an item, which is the same number they would input if they bought items during breakfast or lunch.

Register Now for DeLaSalle Summer Camps

Join the hundreds of students who build their skills and have fun learning new activities during one of nine summer camps offered through DeLaSalle. Registration is underway for Camp Islander 2018, with camps for boys’ and girls’ basketball, cheer, football, boys’ and girls’ soccer, tennis, theatre, and volleyball.
