In today’s news…

You will all recall the remarkable performance by Bernard Woma and the Saakumu Dance Troupe from Ghana on March 2nd. Bernard had been suffering with cancer but did not share that with us. We were informed on Friday that he passed away. Please keep Bernard, the dance troupe and all of his friends and family in your prayers. We were so blessed by his presence and that of his group. What an awesome experience for everyone in the school to dance together on the gym floor. May his soul rest in peace.

DeLaSalle will celebrate seniors and their postsecondary plans on National College Decision Day. On this day, seniors may be out of uniform if they are wearing apparel representing their college or postsecondary decisions. During lunches, seniors are invited to the stage to sign our graduation destination poster indicating where they are attending college, enter a raffle for a chance to win a dorm refrigerator, and get a treat from the counseling office!
DeLaSalle invites families and friends to join us at the annual Spring Concert and Art Show on Wednesday, May 2, at 7:00pm in the Florance Center. Honors II art students will display art work in the Schulze Lab (D104) starting at 5:30pm. Guests can participate in an interactive art project while waiting in line or before the concert. The finished project will be displayed in Albers Atrium after the concert. Unable to attend? Watch a livestream here

Students who park in the Nicollet Island Pavilion overflow parking lot (just south of the Hennepin Avenue bridge) should note the parking lot will be unavailable on two upcoming dates because the Nicollet Island Pavilion needs the parking for two scheduled events. The parking lot will be used for breakfast events on Tuesday, May 1 and Tuesday, May 15. Students are strongly encouraged to carpool, get a ride to and from school, or use public transportation on those dates. Thank you for your cooperation.

Students who participate in after school activities can get a healthy snack starting today. Islanders who stay for after school tutoring, athletics, and activities qualify for the snack, which will rotate and include options like fruit, crackers, milk, juice, cheese sticks, and granola bars. You can also buy grab ‘n go items like chips, sports drinks and leftover a la carte items from lunch. The Cafe will be open Mondays-Thursdays from 3:00-3:30pm.

If you have a negative lunch account balance, you need to make it positive by Tuesday, May 1 in order to buy breakfast, lunch, or a la carte items from the DeLaSalle Cafe. Click here for information about how to access and deposit money into your account. Please deposit funds into your account by Tuesday, to ensure your account is positive by lunch time. If you receive free or reduced lunch benefits, your account cannot be negative either.
