Spring Break- April 2-9, 2018

Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

For flowers that bloom about our feet;
For tender grass, so fresh, so sweet;
For song of bird, and hum of bee;
For all things fair we hear or see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee!

For blue of stream and blue of sky;
For pleasant shade of branches high;
For fragrant air and cooling breeze;
For beauty of the blooming trees,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee!

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

On today’s calendar…

We wish students and families a safe, relaxing Spring Break April 2-9. Please note that classes will resume on Tuesday, April 10, as faculty and staff will participate in professional development on Monday, April 9. Please note, too, that many staff choose to take time off during the break. You may find how to contact an individual staff member through our online Staff Directory.

In today’s news…

Do you have awesome plans for break? The Broadcast Journalism class is looking for short video clips of students enjoying Spring Break. Whether you are going on vacation or relaxing at home or exploring the Twin Cities, we want your stories! Submit a short clip (between 10 and 30 seconds) by following the instructions in this form. Please also make sure your videos are taken horizontally. Winners will be featured in the Weekly De.
The yearbook committee is looking for photos of students at Super Bowl events around the cities. Please submit your photos to
The regularly scheduled Parent Association meeting on Monday, April 9 has been canceled. We made the decision in part because spring break extends through April 9 and there are other opportunities for parents to be involved at DeLaSalle in April. The Parent Association will again recognize staff during the annual Staff Appreciation Day on Thursday, April 26.

On Wednesday, April 11, students may dress out of uniform if they purchase a wristband. Students must follow the out of uniform policies in the Student-Parent Handbook.

On Wednesday, April 11, students in spring sports will take team pictures. Coaches will communicate information regarding picture orders.

On Friday, April 13, students will meet with their academic mentor one last time this semester to discuss their academic progress.

On Friday, April 13, the school community will gather for a Pepfest to recognize spring sports athletes.

Tickets are on sale for the April 28 Junior/Senior Prom. The theme for this year’s Prom is “Big Lights, Big City-Hollywood” and you can gain “red carpet” access for $75 before April 18. Ticket sales close at 11:59pm on April 25. You can also purchase tickets from Ms. Smith in the Business Office with cash or check payment (please make checks payable to DeLaSalle High School, with “Prom” listed in the check memo).
DeLaSalle families have the chance this spring to host an exchange student from a Catholic school in Argentina. The 16- and 17-year-old students attend Colegia Santo Domingo en la Sierra, a bilingual Catholic school about three hours from Buenos Aires, and will be in the Twin Cities from April 15-June 3. Hosting an exchange student gives your family a unique opportunity to build a special connection, explore new customs, and share American culture. If you are interested in hosting, please email Brad Casey, Global Advantage Program coordinator.

For new students (and new students with older siblings), families will receive an email between April 1-15 with a link to access a tuition agreement. The agreement will reflect any financial aid grants and/or merit scholarships for the upcoming year. Families are asked to respond to our Business Office by following the instructions in the email and on the agreement, selecting a payment option, banking information and electronically signing your acceptance of your agreement. We request a response from all families by Saturday, April 21, as all payment plans for 2018-19 begin in May.  If you are a new family to DeLaSalle and do not receive an email by the 15th, please contact Ron Rice at 612-676-7601.

For returning students (without an additional child to be added to the tuition account), and as part of our continuous enrollment process, you will receive an email showing a summary of tuition and financial aid grants and/or merit scholarships. TADS will use the same banking or credit card information provided by families for their 2017-18 agreement. Additionally,TADS will use the same basic payment plan arrangement that families chose for the 2017-18 school year as the payment plan for the 2018-19 school year. If families need to change any banking or credit card information, their payment plan, or have any other questions, please contact Ron Rice at 612-676-7601 by April 21 to make those changes for the 2018-19 school year.

Tuition agreements will only be sent to families that have completed the registration and, if necessary, the financial aid application process for 2018-19.  Emails will not be sent to families that have not completed the required processes.
