An Easter Message from DeLaSalle

The administration and staff of DeLaSalle wish all members of our community a blessed and Happy Easter.  We are called to be resurrection people of hope for each other and for a world that surely needs us to share Good News of goodness and grace. As history has recorded and we have read in John 11:25“I am the Resurrection and the Life. If anyone believes in me, even though he dies he will live, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”  May we all see this as a season of renewal and re-commitment to live in the light and lessons of Jesus Christ, as we celebrate once again that he is our Risen Savior.
2018-19 Tuition Information Arrives in Early April; Tuition Charges Begin in May

For new students (and new students with older siblings), families will receive an email between April 1-15 with a link to access a tuition agreement.  The agreement will reflect any financial aid grants and/or merit scholarships for the upcoming year.  Families are asked to respond to our Business Office by following the instructions in the email and on the agreement, selecting a payment option, banking information and electronically signing your acceptance of your agreement. We request a response from all families by Saturday, April 21, as all payment plans for 2018-19 begin in May.  If you are a new family to DeLaSalle and do not receive an email by the 15th, please contact Ron Rice at 612-676-7601.

For returning students (without an additional child to be added to the tuition account), and as part of our continuous enrollment process, you will receive an email showing a summary of tuition and financial aid grants and/or merit scholarships.  TADS will use the same banking or credit card information provided by families for their 2017-18 agreement.  Additionally,TADS will use the same basic payment plan arrangement that families chose for the 2017-18 school year as the payment plan for the 2018-19 school year.  If families need to change any banking or credit card information, their payment plan, or have any other questions, please contact Ron Rice at 612-676-7601 by April 21 to make those changes for the 2018-19 school year.

Tuition agreements will only be sent to families that have completed the registration and, if necessary, the financial aid application process for 2018-19.  Emails will not be sent to families that have not completed the required processes.

Spring Break April 2-9

We wish students and families a safe, relaxing Spring Break April 2-9. Please note that classes will resume on Tuesday, April 10, as faculty and staff will participate in professional development on Monday, April 9. Please note, too, that many staff choose to take time off during the break. You may find how to contact an individual staff member through our online Staff Directory. And, we will not publish a “Looking Ahead at DeLaSalle” email blast during spring break; the next edition will be Friday, April 13.

Returning Families: Please Respond to Transportation Requests, iPad Insurance Plan for 2018-19

Thank you to the many DeLaSalle families who have completed the final step in the continuing enrollment for 2018-19 by returning transportation requests and selecting an iPad insurance plan for next year. If you have not completed the request, please check your email inbox to look for the message or one of several reminders – and for promptly responding to that request as soon as possible.

Advanced Placement Exam Registration and Fees

DeLaSalle students in Advanced Placement (AP) classes will take AP exams in May.  The exam offers students the opportunity to earn college credit prior to stepping on a college campus. Remember to verify that classes are accepted during the college enrollment process.

DeLaSalle charges a fee for each AP exam that is used to offset the cost imposed by the College Board.  This year, the charge is $46 per test. Families who qualify for free and reduced lunch benefits will not be charged. Like last year, DeLaSalle will collect this charge through each family’s TADS account. Students who will take one or two AP exams will have the charges added to the April invoice; those who will take three or more exams will have the charges added to the April and May invoices (splitting the total cost evenly). This change will automate the process and split up the cost for families.  If you have questions on the charges, or need to make separate arrangements, please call Ron Rice in the Business Office at 612.676.7601

** Because tuition contracts end in April for the 2017-18 school year, the AP exam fee will be added to the 2018-19 tuition charge for non-seniors, and will be the only charge on the tuition account in May for seniors who take three or more exams.

** For those that don’t have a tuition payment due in April, DeLaSalle will add an April invoice to your TADS account.

Around DeLaSalle

The GREEN Team’s Mara Halloran ‘18 demonstrates using the environmental “jaws of life” to remove an item that has been properly discarded. DeLaSalle this month installed new waste bin covers and utensil collection bins on the three stream sorting tables in the Florance Center to help cut down on the metal utensils and plastic plates that are accidentlaly thrown away, costing the school hundreds of dollars each year in supplies. April 9 Parent Association Meeting Canceled

The regularly scheduled Parent Association meeting on Monday, April 9 has been canceled. We made the decision in part because spring break extends through April 9 and there are other opportunities for parents to be involved at DeLaSalle in April. The Parent Association will again recognize staff during the annual Staff Appreciation Day on Thursday, April 26.

Islanders Boys’ Basketball Finishes Third in State

Congratulations to the DeLaSalle boys’ basketball team, which finished third in the recent Class 3A state tournament. The Islanders beat Austin in the third place game, 82-61, and senior guard Gabe Kalscheur and junior guard Tyrell Terry were named to the Class 3A All Tournament Team.

Islanders Participate in Grade Level Reconciliation

On the past four Tuesdays during the month of March, the four separate grades of DeLaSalle students took turns to gather at St. Boniface Church to pray together, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and participate in quiet reflection and adoration of the Eucharist. We are grateful for the planning and work of Peg Hodapp and Brother Ryan Anderson in Lasallian Ministry and our school chaplain, Father Joe Kuharski, as well as for the generosity of St. Boniface parochial administrator Fr. Biju Mathew.  Throughout the month, many different priests of the Archdiocese volunteered their time to assist Islanders in their spiritual journey, including this past Tuesday, Archbishop Bernard Hebda and Basilica of St. Mary rector, Fr. John Bauer.  Ours is a large community of supporters on our journeys and we thank them all.

Host an Argentinian Exchange Student

DeLaSalle families have the chance this spring to host an exchange student from a Catholic school in Argentina. The 16- and 17-year-old students attend Colegia Santo Domingo en la Sierra, a bilingual Catholic school about three hours from Buenos Aires, and will be in the Twin Cities from April 15-June 3. Hosting an exchange student gives your family a unique opportunity to build a special connection, explore new customs, and share American culture. If you are interested in hosting, please email Brad Casey, Global Advantage Program coordinator.
