In today’s news…

DeLaSalle will email 2018-19 tuition agreements between April 1-15. The agreements will reflect any financial aid grants and/or merit scholarships a student may receive next year. All parents and guardians are asked to respond to our Business Office by following the instructions on the agreement, selecting a payment option, and electronically signing your acceptance. We request a response from all families by Saturday, April 21, as all payment plans for 2018-19 begin in May.

Returning Families: Please Respond to the Transportation Requests & iPad Insurance Plan for 2018-19. Thank you to the many DeLaSalle families who have completed the final step in the continuing enrollment for 2018-19 by returning transportation requests and selecting an iPad insurance plan for next year. Thank you for promptly responding to that request once you receive it.

DeLaSalle students in Advanced Placement (AP) classes will take AP exams in May. The exam offers students the opportunity to earn college credit prior to stepping on a college campus. Remember to verify that classes are accepted during the college enrollment process.

DeLaSalle charges a fee for each AP exam that is used to offset the cost imposed by the College Board.  This year, the charge is $46 per test. Families who qualify for free and reduced lunch benefits will not be charged. Like last year, DeLaSalle will collect this charge through each family’s TADS account. Students who will take one or two AP exams will have the charges added to the April invoice; those who will take three or more exams will have the charges added to the April and May invoices (splitting the total cost evenly). This change will automate the process and split up the cost for families.  If you have questions on the charges, or need to make separate arrangements, please call Ron Rice in the Business Office at 612.676.7601

*Because tuition contracts end in April for the 2017-18 school year, the AP exam fee will be added to the 2018-19 tuition charge for non-seniors, and will be the only charge on the tuition account in May for seniors who take three or more exams.

**For those that don’t have a tuition payment due in April, DeLaSalle will add an April invoice to your TADS account.

Congratulations to the 40 seniors who have been named a “Distinguished Scholar” for having maintained a grade point average of 4.0 through the first semester of their senior year. Continue reading

On Tuesday, all ninth grade students will gather for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Eucharistic adoration at St. Boniface Catholic Church in northeast Minneapolis. Students who are not Catholic may also meet with a priest if they wish. Theology teachers will help prepare students in classes ahead of their grade level gathering.

MACRS will be holding its first meeting of the 2018 season on Wednesday, during 4th, 5th, and 6th lunches. This season, we will be reading The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. Meetings will be held on Thursdays during lunch (you may eat during the game). This season’s moderators include Mr. Zavitz, Mr. Casey, Mr. Banas, and Mr. Homan. All interested boys should sign up on the Activities Office sign-up sheet or see Mr. Zavitz in B301.

Competitors receive a free book and a pizza party at the end of the season in May. For those already signed up, more information will follow by email later this week.

Tickets are now on sale for the April 28 Junior/Senior Prom. The theme for this year’s Prom is “Big Lights, Big City-Hollywood” and you can gain “red carpet” access for $75 before April 18. Ticket sales close at 11:59pm on April 25. You can also purchase tickets from Ms. Smith in the Business Office with cash or check payment (please make checks payable to DeLaSalle High School, with “Prom” listed in the check memo).

DeLaSalle families have the chance this spring to host an exchange student from a Catholic school in Argentina. The 16- and 17-year-old students attend Colegia Santo Domingo en la Sierra, a bilingual Catholic school about three hours from Buenos Aires, and will be in the Twin Cities from April 15-June 3. Hosting an exchange student gives your family a unique opportunity to build a special connection, explore new customs, and share American culture. If you are interested in hosting, please email Brad Casey, Global Advantage Program coordinator.

The UWC-USA Summer Youth Programs welcomes youth from around the world aged 14 to 18 who create a dynamic and enthusiastic international community of global problem solvers at our Global Leadership Forum (GLF) July 6-23 in Montezuma, New Mexico. You can read more information about the program here. While the cost is $3,500, there is financial aid and scholarships available. A DeLaSalle alum currently studying for her PhD at the U of M will be one of the directors and would be happy to talk to you about the program as well. Keep the memories of the 2017-18 school year for years to come. Buy a yearbook today. Yearbooks cost $60 and there are two ways to order – online through the Balfour website or through an order form available in the attendance office or outside the IT office. Yearbooks will be delivered in mid-May.

Applications are now available for driver’s education classes, which will be offered in April, June, and late July/early August. Classes are limited to the first 25 students who register with a $200 down payment. Click here for class dates and applications.
