In today’s news…

School today is an online learning day. Morning transportation routes will run on a 2-hour late start schedule for students who regularly take a bus or van in to school. Fan buses will leave from De starting at 11:00am. After the game, fan buses will bring you back to school and afternoon transportation routes will leave from the front of De at their regular 3:10pm departure.

Congratulations to the girls’ basketball team, which will represent DeLaSalle in the state tournament. The quarterfinal game is today at noon at Williams Arena against Willmar. Tickets for the game will be sold in Albers Atrium today, from 8:30-10:00am.

The boys’ basketball team plays Orono in the section final on Thursday at 7:00pm at Chanhassen High School. There will be a fan bus to the game, but you must sign up here before Thursday at 1:30pm to ride the bus. Tickets for Thursday’s game cost $7 for adults and $5 for students.

The TableTop Games Club will play Sheriff of Nottingham, an exciting game of bluffing, bribery, and smuggling, on Thursday. Meet at 3:10pm in B307. Come and have fun!

Mr. C will have a short informational meeting on Monday, March 19 for those who want to become CPR/AED certified. Meet in the south side of D104 at the beginning of your lunch hour. The meeting will only take about 5 minutes.

Congratulations to the DeLaSalle Speech Team, which took third place in the Tri-Metro Conference meet last week. Three Islanders earned All Conference champion – Sam Mishler ‘18 in Discussion (his third straight conference title), Sophie Liang ‘18 in Prose, and Grace DeRoche ‘20 in Informative. Adaire Criner ‘19, Saul Maldonado ‘18, and Jennifer Yeung ‘18 all finished as All Conference runner up.

Want to work on your cardio a bit? Join Brother Ryan on his morning jog around the island – Thursdays at 7:15am. Wear weather appropriate clothes, and meet by the buses on Grove Street starting this Thursday, March 15. ALL are welcome, Students, Faculty, Staff. Hope to see you there this week!

Immaculate Conception Church and School is hosting a youth gathering for high school students on St. Patrick’s Day (Saturday, March 17 from 9:00am-noon). Join the staff of St. Paul Street Evangelization to learn how to evangelize in your everyday life in easy and fun ways. The gathering costs $5 and you can register online here. Applications are now available for driver’s education classes, which will be offered in April, June, and late July/early August. Classes are limited to the first 25 students who register with a $200 down payment. Click here for class dates and applications.

DeLaSalle Theatre presents its spring musical “Les Miserables” over three weekends in March. The production features the timeless story of Jean Valjean, a former convict, who spends a lifetime seeking redemption, set against the backdrop of 19th century France and the aftermath of the French Revolution.

Performances are March 16, 17, 23, and 24, at 7:30pm in the Florance Center. Reserved seating is $15, general admission is $10, students and seniors pay $8, and the play is free for DeLaSalle students with school ID.
