DeLaSalle Theatre Presents “Les Miserables”

The award-winning DeLaSalle Theatre presents six performances this month of its spring musical “Les Miserables”. Performances are at 7:30pm on the Friendschuh Stage in the Florance Center on March 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, and 24. Reserved seating for the March 9 and 10 performances are sold out, though other tickets are available for purchase at the door. The musical features the story of Jean Valjean, a former convict, who spends a lifetime seeking redemption. Set against the backdrop of 19th century France and the aftermath of the French Revolution, this timeless story of intertwined destinies reveals the power of compassion and the quiet evil of indifference to human suffering. Families may purchase reserved seating here..

Returning Families: Please Respond to Transportation Requests, iPad Insurance Plan for 2018-19

This week, DeLaSalle emailed returning families with the final step in the continuing enrollment for 2018-19 – completing transportation requests and selecting an iPad insurance plan for next year. Thank you for promptly responding to that request once you receive it.

Girls’ Basketball Returns to State Tournament; Boys’ Basketball Advances to Section Semifinal

Congratulations to the DeLaSalle girls’ basketball program, which advanced to the Minnesota high school state tournament for the ninth time since 2006. The #2 seeded and #5 ranked Islanders defeated the top-seeded and #3 ranked Mahtomedi Zephyrs in the Section 4AAA championship March 8 with a 47-41 win. The state tournament seeding meeting will happen Saturday, March 10, at 10:00am and we will update our Take State webpage with information about game times and matchups as soon as we know more information.

Meanwhile, the boys’ basketball team has earned the #1 seed in their section playoffs and will host #5 seeded Benilde-St. Margaret’s in the section semifinal on Saturday, March 10. The game will be held at 5:00pm to accommodate for parking and those who also wish to take in DeLaSalle Theatre’s 7:30pm performance of its spring musical “Les Miserables.”

Esteemed Educator Shares Secrets of ‘Raising Your Child in a Technological World’ at Monday’s Parent Association Meeting

DeLaSalle parents are invited to join the Parent Association on Monday, March 12 to hear from former Minnesota Principal of the Year, Dr. Bruce Locklear, with his insights on “The Challenges and Opportunities of Raising Children in a Technological World.” The meeting begins at 6:30pm in the Schulze Lab (D104). Locklear, a father of two grown daughters, served 10 years as Edina High School’s principal, following administrative positions at Owatonna and Delano High Schools. He retired last school year and is now the Director of Educational Relations for Jostens. With all of us becoming more engaged with technology – and perhaps less engaged in conversation – there likely are moments in many families’ lives for more balance. We hope you can join us. By virtue of enrolling their daughter or son, all DeLaSalle parents are current members of the Association. Continue reading
