Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

Good Morning God!

You are ushering in another day, untouched and freshly new. So here I am to ask you, God, if You’ll renew me too. Forgive the many errors that I made yesterday and let me try again dear God to walk closer in Your way. But Lord, I am well aware, I can’t make it on my own. So take my hand and hold it tight, for I cannot walk alone. Amen

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

In today’s news…

Signups start Friday for the dodgeball tournament that takes place after school on Thursday, January 25. You can sign up on the sheets outside the Student Activities office. Students will be able to sign up until Tuesday at 3:00pm. Rosters will be emailed on Wednesday, January 24. The winning team will play the staff at the Pepfest on February 2.

DeLaSalle Theatre presents three shows as part of its Winter One Acts. The shows are: “Violet, or The (Un)sinkable Stewardess”, “The Red Shoes,” and “The Once and Future King.” Showtimes are January 19, 20, 26, and 27, at 7;30pm, in the Florance Center. Tickets cost $10 for general admission, $5 for students and seniors, and free for DeLaSalle students with school ID.

On Monday, January 22, students are invited to attend the prayer service for life at the Cathedral followed by a march to the State Capitol. If you are interested in participating, please e-mail Ms. Hodapp for more details.

Activities leading up to the Super Bowl on February 4 will impact parking near DeLaSalle for the next three weeks. The Nicollet Island Pavilion overflow parking lot, just south of the Hennepin Avenue bridge, will be unavailable for general public pay parking or MPRB permit parking from January 17-February 7.

Starting today, students may purchase a parking permit that will allow them to park in the parking lot at 301 NE Main Street during school days. Permits will be sold for $85 ($1 for each school day). They will be valid for the remainder of the school year.

Students MUST remove their vehicle from the 301 on Main parking lot by 5:00pm each day or risk being towed by building management. DeLaSalle will provide shuttle bus service each school day between the 301 on Main parking lot and the school, starting Wednesday. The morning shuttle will leave the parking lot at approximately 8:15am. The afternoon shuttle will leave from the front of DeLaSalle at 3:15pm.

Current 10th and 11th grade students received an email with a link to apply for a Global Advantage Program summer course in Italy or Nicaragua. Continue reading here about the trips, including requested information for the application. Applications are due by February 2. As students and families consider this decision, please note that young women may apply by April 1 for a one-time grant up to $500 through the Ann Bancroft Foundation’s “Dare to Dream” grant program. Click here for more information and the grant application. And, all DeLaSalle students may volunteer through the Islander Foundation and apply those funds to help pay for trip expenses.

On Tuesday, January 23, students will meet with their academic mentors to review first semester results and plan second semester goals. DeLaSalle moved these meetings from their originally scheduled date January 19 to minimize the number of schedule disruptions next week.

On Monday, January 22, at 8:30am, the Parent Association sponsored group will meet in the Florance Center to lift up the school community in prayer. All parents are welcome. Students, staff, and families may place prayer requests in prayer boxes in the Lasallian Ministry office, Main Office, or Theology classroom. Prayer requests may remain anonymous.

On Saturday, January 20th at 8:30am, we invite prospective students to take the Entrance Exam. Families do NOT need to preregister for the exam. We charge no fee for the exam and we will provide all test materials, including pencils. While students are taking the Entrance Exam, we invite parents to stay for a Parent Information Seminar in DeLaSalle’s Florance Center, where we will cover information about the application and registration process, financial aid, transportation, student life, uniforms, and more. Finally, while we will accept application materials on or before January 20, families still have until February 9 to complete an application to DeLaSalle.
