You Are Invited to December 13 Christmas Concert

One of the most popular traditions of the Christmas season happens at DeLaSalle next week – and you are invited! Students in the Bel Canto and A Cappella Choirs, Chamber Orchestra, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band present their Christmas Concert on Wednesday, December 13, at 7:00pm in the Florance Center. DeLaSalle will again broadcast a livestream of the event. And DeLaSalle parents will serve refreshments to those waiting in line before doors to the Florance Center open at 6:30pm. Click here to access the livestream, as well as important information about parking and a free shuttle offered the evening of the concert.

DeLaSalle Celebrates Christmas Prayer Service December 14

DeLaSalle will celebrate Christmas with a prayer service on Thursday, December 14, at 9:00am in the Florance Center. Through Scripture, prayer, and song, Islanders will reflect on the birth of Christ. The senior boys and girls will also perform a “12 Days of Christmas” skit.

Final Assessments Held December 20-22

DeLaSalle students will complete their first semester final assessments December 20-22. Three assessments are scheduled each on December 20 and 21 and two assessments on December 22. Students will dismiss early all three days. Click here to see the final assessment schedule and for other important reminders.

Parents in Prayer Rescheduled for December 18

De Parents in Prayer invites DeLaSalle parents and family members to its next prayer meeting, which has been rescheduled from December 15 to Monday, December 18, from 1:45-2:45pm in the Florance Center. The group gathers together once a month to pray over the requests and praises of the DeLaSalle community. This is a very welcoming experience where blessings are not only given, but also received. We hope to see you there. Contact Jackie Schluter Johnson with questions.

Around DeLaSalle

If there isn’t “an app for that”, then Islanders learned how to create one, when Jean Weiss of Code Savvy presented in math classes this week. Weiss guided students through the MIT app inventor program. DeLaSalle now offers a Coding Club for students interested in learning how to code or create their own apps, which are highly desired knowledge and skills. Track Your Child’s Minneapolis Bus Route with MyStop App

Thank you for your patience with school transportation as we enter winter and the weather it brings. DeLaSalle families whose students ride a Minneapolis school bus route can sign up for a free app to track their child’s bus. Created by the Minneapolis and Suburban / Monarch Bus Company, the MyStop app is free for Android and iPhone users. Click here for instructions on how to download and sign up. The app does not show real-time location but is accurate within 3-4 minutes. As a remember, students should always be at their bus stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time.

Christmas Basket Drive Exceeds Goal

A Christmas miracle has happened at DeLaSalle! Thanks to the generosity of Islander students and families, we exceeded the $4,000 fundraising goal for our annual Christmas basket collection drive. The outpouring of charity allowed two dozen students to purchase gifts December 1 for families and teens we have spiritually adopted through Sponsor A Family Minnesota, Sharing & Caring Hands, and Avenues for Homeless Teens. Thank you for making it possible for us to spread Christmas cheer.

Host a Japanese Student

DeLaSalle families have a unique opportunity to build a special connection, explore new customs, and share American culture by hosting an international student in the second semester. Jack is an incoming junior from Japan who has a passion for soccer and a good command of English. If you or your family is interested in hosting Jack, please contact us. The host family would receive a $4,000 stipend for hosting Jack for the semester.
