DeLaSalle Hosts Christmas Concert December 13

DeLaSalle invites families and friends to join us at the annual Christmas Concert on Wednesday, December 13, at 7:00pm in the Florance Center. Students in the Bel Canto and A Cappella Choirs, Chamber Orchestra, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band will perform. Those unable to attend can watch a livestream of the event. Click here to access the livestream, as well as important information about parking and a free shuttle offered the evening of the concert.

Academic Mentor Meetings Scheduled December 5

Students will meet with their academic mentors after first period on Tuesday, December 5. This meeting will give mentors and students an opportunity to discuss academic progress before the end of the first semester.

Sacrament of Reconciliation Offered December 6, 11

As we begin the Advent season December 3, we reflect on how prepared we are to celebrate the birth of Christ on Christmas Day. DeLaSalle students may receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation or meet with a priest during their Theology class on either Wednesday, December 6 or Monday, December 11. School chaplain, Fr. Joe Kuharski, will be present and DeLaSalle will also welcome other visiting priests to the Island.

Christmas Basket Collection Drive Extended

We’ve had a great response from students and families as DeLaSalle provides a special Christmas for families we spiritually adopt through Sponsor A Family Minnesota, in addition to teenagers served by Sharing & Caring Hands and Avenues for Homeless Teens. We are still accepting money donations through Tuesday, December 5 in 9th and 10th grade Theology classes and 11th and 12th grade English classes.

Thank You, Brother Nick!

DeLaSalle offers its gratitude and appreciation for the many gifts and talents that Brother Nick Geimer, FSC, shared with the Islander community over the last 16 years that he lived on Nicollet Island. Brother Nick, who celebrates his 90th birthday in late February, moved to Chicago over Thanksgiving weekend when space for him opened at the St. Paul’s House senior living facility. The move will put Brother Nick closer to his blood brother, Richard, who is also a De La Salle Christian Brother. A man of many talents, Brother Nick left his mark on DeLaSalle through the podiums, bookshelves, supply cabinets, and decorations that he created in his woodworking shop and on his loom.
