The Advent season marks the beginning of the liturgical year in the Catholic Church. This year, Advent began on Sunday, December 3. It will end at midnight on Christmas Eve.

Advent – from the Latin ad-venire, meaning “to come to” – is a season of prayerful reflection and preparation for the birth of Christ, celebrated on Christmas. Catholics not only anticipate Christ’s birth but also prepare for his second coming, in which he will judge the living and the dead.

The following video helps remind us what the season of Advent is all about.

The DeLaSalle school community will gather for a liturgy to mark our preparation for Christmas on Thursday, December 14 in the Florance Center.
